My SSR: Slingshot Yellow VIN 20778 Born 05 May 2005 (05/05/05)
Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor; But Legal . . .
GIVE ME YOUR TIRED, YOUR POOR; BUT LEGAL . . .
Give me your tired, hard-working ones.
Send me literate daughters and sons,
Who learn English to understand,
To be successful in their new land.
No slackers, lackers, no workers illegal.
Visa'd laborers who respect the eagle.
Reward immigrants who patiently revere
America's laws and policies adhere.
Come and follow the guidelines set,
Properly papered, and goals well met.
Away with those that sneak and hide.
Out they go, when they have lied!
Could I go to any other nation,
Arriving there with expectation,
That I could simply live and lurk,
Demanding every aid and perk?
America stands on rule of law.
Craziest issue I ever saw---
Insanity surrounds this matter,
Inane talk and ridiculous chatter!
Politicians, better get in the loop,
Or you'll cook in your own soup.
Do the right thing, the legal thing,
Or END! to your political fling.
No amnesty for INS lawbreakers.
None whatever, for heaven sakers!
America, a mighty, sovereign nation.
Legal, part of democratic equation.
So, hear us good, and hear us now,
We, United States constituents, vow,
To vote for those who see the light
And NEVER make ILLEGAL, right.
Doophus. with the message in the poem. Illeagal immigration is the fault of our own lawmakers and enforcement. It is not a racial issue. It's a socio-economic nightmare brought on by not enforcing our already in place immigration laws., But worse, along with this wave of illeagals from our neighboring countries we have people from other places who hate us, are here to kill us. I cannot begin to believe that even after the attack on New York that are borders have been so loose. A handfull of these haters came across the Canadian border armed with box cutters and changed the course of our country and the world. Who is here now, and what weapons they are bringing in is a pretty scarry topic and yet the debate about securing our borders goes on.
Well, no one can argue that the world is a mess right now, (hasn't it always been) and we can go on and on. I have got myself into a few politcal, ethical, and social discussions here latlely, and I am finding it stressful rather than fun. And fun is why I bought my SSR, and fun is why I come to the Fanatic site, so I am swearing off this serious stuff an concentrating my energy on things I can fix, like the new rattle comming from somewhere under my truck.
Peace

sorry for the hijack DOOPHUS....
Not a problem, 89 Rod . . .
I only posted the poem because I thought it was both well written and to the point . . . no intention of starting a political debate.
