Very sad, but true. Lonnie's old plant shut the doors for good yesterday, at one time it employed 500, as of yesterday it still had 160 employees. So many people having it rough around here, also a few of our friend's marraiges breaking up due to financial stress I'm sure.

The air in those houses use to be filled with the aroma of hot apple pie and apple cider. The bowl next to the door was filled with Babe Ruth and Reese's candy. Children dressed in costumes would bounce merrily up the sidewalk to knock on the door and recite "trick or treat". Dads would sneak a little sip of 7-up with vodka mixed in as they watched from the sidewalk and talked to the many friend and neighbors they knew. The phonograph records repeated howling and ghastly sounds from ghosts and goblins. After returning home the children would dump their rewards on the living room floor to gaze at the bounty they had worked for that eveing. Mom and dad would be hovering the background in case a special treat would show up in the mixture.
