WOW WOW WOW !!!
I guess this 24hr oxygen has affected my brain. I have and still enjoy this SSR Forum, but I must have missed something along the way, because, all the "unacceptable things being mentioned" must have went right over my head. I am a member of a BSA forum for 8yrs and an MG forum for 7yrs, with out which I could never have completed my restorations, and nothing akin to this has EVER happened. I've learned alot on this forum and lookforwards to learning more. I hope this whole thing doesn't dissintegrate. I don't know what to say other than lets keep this an SSR information friendly forum about SSR's. Grimm agrees with me. Greg & Grimm
That's why this thread was started. I paid good $ to join this truck club, not the Boy Scouts. Not to hear everyone sound like Eddie Haskell. What's next? The men will all be required to have brush cuts and the women will have to wear Pearl Necklaces. Think like me, speak like me, have the same opinion like me, or be moderated and controlled by me...
I have said this along time ago. This is just a feel good pat each other on the back site. I can put up with it and have met some nice people here but it is what it is. If you have noticed I have not been around much latley nor will I be in the future, I will stop in here and see what is happening and try to do the Maggie Valley event but that is about it. I have met 3 other people in the last week that has SSR'S and knew nothing about them. I gave them some information on there truck's and they asked where did I learn all this at? I told them online but I just could not recommend the site. They asked why and I simply told them that it was one of those places if you ask a question that has been asked before no one wants to help you or you get told to do a search..Also that the site does not like anyone to type anything negative about the SSR. If you do you are doomed, never say anythign about GM or any problems with them.. Do you know what there reply was when I told them this..Never mind I do not need any of that stuff in my life.. And this was from all 3.. 1 of which was in P.C. Beach durning Thunderbeach and lives in Atlanta
I am not angery or mad at anyone here and I have enjoyed chatting with alot of you but to try and say this needs to be a place where a 9 year old can visit "In which they cannot have a license to drive" or it should be a place where a 90 year old grandma should come "who shoud not have a license to drive" is kinda out there. There are alot worse things that kids see and here in public libraries than here.

My ignore list just keeps getting larger and larger. I think that is the only way to handle this. If no one bothers with the RENEGADE few maybe they will go away and play their childish games elsewhere.
I came to this site not necessarily to socialize but to share information about ways to improve my SSR mechanically and visually. Also to keep up with the shows and cruises that are available. I hope that still continues to remain the focus of this forum.

It's sad that it has to come to this. But, rules are rules. I actually went back and read the User Agreement today. Membership doesn't buy us rights. Use of the forum is a privilege loaned to us by the forum owner.
I have seen people disappear from another forum I belong to (SASS Wire - Single Action Shooting Society) for a lot less than I've seen here. The Moderators will email them a warning and that's their last chance. Any more such behavior and they are banned without anything further said. You would figure with the median age over 50 here on the forum that we wouldn't have to resort to name calling and grade school antics.
I'm a relative newcomer here but that's my two cents worth on the subject.
I am relatively new to this forum and primarily use it to find performance and repair tips for my growing SSR fleet and infatuation. I like some of the jokes posted, don't care much for the political cheap shots, but those kinds of things are easy to ignore by skipping "off topic" areas or things that may be objectionable to you. We may not like everyone at our place of employment or even our church but we all try and get along for the common good. No matter what religion or Boy Scout troop you subscribe to, and even if you don't, there are still rules and guidelines to live by to be a better human being. Treating other members of the Forum with respect should be a consideration of all it's members.
This is a truck built for fun people, who among us hasn't had the worries of the day blown away by putting the top down and going for a cruise? Isn't life stressful enough? Maybe I'm naive but I still think this can be both an educational and entertaining site for everyone if you just check your attitude and ignorance at the door before you enter.

Wow I cannot believe all this stuff I have just read. I must be living under a rock. This is one of the best sites I have been invovled in & the amount of useful information is truly amazing. At the present time I am trying to get past some SSR issues regarding a new cam I installed it is not GM's fault or any one else's. It something new & this is the only place I am aware of that I can get good advice. We have not sloved the problem but we are making progress. I have not seen much of the negatives you are referring to but then again I do not go looking for them. If it were not for this site my SSR which I love almost as much as my gun dog would not be as much fun. Thanks to all of you who have helped me an to the rest I suggest you get a life & grow up. I for one would not be able to enjoy my SSR with out this site.

a personal experience i had with our vintage stock car racing club of 10 years. the first two years i was just an active member, then i became president. all was simple, we had meetings, cussed and discussed new ideas, problems etc ( in person). all the correspondence was done by me in paper form, or by phone calls, arcahic yes, but it worked. we had end of year banquets and all ate at the same long table without any food throwing. then came some new members and the net ( ugg ). i, for other reasons bowed out as president and another good man took over, but a forum was established by one of the newbies. oh well.....there it went! as someone else said earlier, it was just like grade school revisited. name calling, down to referring one of the members as the pillsbury dough boy ( he is 55 years young and just happens to be robust). i won't bore you with all the gorey details, but it ruined 10 years of hard work by a group who loved to race competitevily and occasionally tear a fender off in the heat of the moment, but still respected each other.
moral, some need to grow up, if ya got a problem, call the person and figure it out. hexx for a 65.00 part , i'd give him the money back ( i'm not fussing at the seller here ) some one else needs the part anyway! i've refunded far more than that and both of us were happy.
i sure hope that this forum of friends sticks together!
where's a guy going to go in august if this don't work?

I am new here. I am on the road enjoying my first SSR trip from VA to Fla with some business stops along the way. If I did not have this vehicle I would have flown. My SSR is protected from rocks etc by a bra LOANED to me by Big Jim. I have some parts on the SSR sold to me at a good price from several Fanatics, and I have a CD filled with maintenance ideas and tips provided by fanatics who know way more about this silly truck than lots of the folks who work on the things from time to time.
So because of this place I am having a ball and enjoying my purchase a lot, so:
1) Thanks to the moderators/administrators for making it possible.
2) Thanks to Big Jim and all of you who have gone the extra mile to make SSR-land a great place.
3) TO the administrators please remember that no good deed goes unpunished and that manners and courage are not always found in the annonymous world of the internet. Sad but true.
4) to the member who responded to my PM asking that he spew political views on the political Fanatics web page by sending me a one page rambling attack, all I can say is that the sequence is not READY! FIRE! AIM
As far as standards of comportment on here I might suggest that rather than attempting to define what constitutes "proper behavior" on here, please consider the standard the Supreme Court used when faced with attempting to define pornography: Basically the author of the majority decision opined that while he could not define pornography, but he was certain that he would recognize it when he saw it!
So you have built this special little corner of the internet and we have agreed to participate with limitations. We have an ignore button and you have an eject button. With the number of posts on here and the small number of removal of privelidges enforced, I think that I trust you to make those decisions. I also trust that if this gang thinks that you have over reacted to some post, you will hear about it and will review your actions. We can't ask for more.
Thanks to all of you, again, for making SSR ownership better.
Now I think I am going cruising and I plan to flip off some 90 year old lady and run over some 9 year olds skateboard!
