Hey! I remember that pic, wasn't there a redline red ssr from Texas somewhere nearby??? That was a great day with some fellow fanatics that I had just met and who seemed to go out of there way to make a fellow Texas fanatic and his copilot who had driven a looonngg way to meet them.
What a great group, I really enjoy this site and the new friendships it has helped introduce me to.
The Stearman can handle a pretty good load. I purchased it in 1986 out in California and spent my days off over the next five years flying it through 47 states on the way home to Virginia. Me, a tank full of gas, all my camping gear and an occasional "large-breasted-yippieee-bird" in the front cockpit! We managed to get into the air, so I think we can get Fanatics into the air even if we have to shed a few gallons of fuel.
I am hoping that next year Big Jim and the other SSR conspirators around the Virginia area will gather at the Flying Circus Airshow in Bealton Virginia. 10 Stearman, often including myself, have put on an airshow every Sunday (May-Oct) for the past 36 years. I will donate a couple of rides to fanatics who attend and I can also arrange a wing walking lesson for those so inclined. I think we can use the SSR tool for opening the top to pry your fingers off the plane's wing strut.
Hey Sidekick, Love your plane, A few years ago I helped manage our little airport here in Macon Co. and a fella named Joe had a Stearman that had been used by the Tuc. Airman and all, since I had helped work on it (I'm an A&P) we took it up! I loved the open cockpit flying WOW! We took it past White side mts, then swooped down low through Lake Glenville, I actually waved at people on there mtn side decks as we were even with them as we flew by!! Sorry to say a week later Joe was out by Bear lake aand apparently got too low in the bowl and clipped the trees pulling out, He was a great guy and welcomed anyone that wanted to talk about his baby He will be missed!! Anyway be careful and I'll see you at Super SSR reunion 07, 2 Otters

But seriously, we all have our problems. I happen to be big, or overweght, or FAT if you prefer, but at least I am not an.... oh sorry I almost went into a "Character Bashing" mode. And I believe that is not what the board is about. Let's just say, I am bigger then you! Neener neener .. .. neener.

Well this thread made my morning coffee go a long way.
Focks, you are not FAT, you are just short for your weight.
Fuzzy, I agree with you and the Scouts. Keep up the good work.
TO the moderators, Keep up the good work and lets get this forum back on the highway and off the dirt roads.
As for the forum getting off path of SS/R informational hightway, I was thinking it was just me spending to much time on the forum and having all my questions answered by the members with knowledge either by "been there done that" or the members are very talented and know the SS/R inside and out.
When I got my SS/R I was very happy with the vech and I can say the same today. The only complaint I have on this forum is the knowledge that I have gained from the fine people that I have come in contact with that have shared there thoughts and showed me how fast I can empty my wallet in making my SS/R a better vech.
I enjoy reading the post about things that other members have done with the SS/R and I am looking forward in doing the same with mine over a period of time, whether it be mods or places to visit in the world.
What has spoiled my time on the forum has been the personal bashings, you need to go out back settle this problem and get over it or move on. I have also noticed that some members have asked a question that has been talked about in detail sometime ago. Being a new member sometime ago I too was guilty of this question, but I was not the computer guru to know about the different sectons of this forum and how they worked. After many days of trial and error along with help from other members I have been able to work my way around the sight and I have been able to tell other SS/R owners about the sight and how to find the valuable information that you all have shared.
Well it time to make another pot off coffee and read some more of the forum.

I have lost way too many friends who challenged mother earth once too often. I try to be careful as I would hate to be the one to scratch the plane.
I just got back from a drive here in Orlando and the valet parking guy at the hotel told me that there is a red SSR here as well. WE are everywhere!
I seemed to have missed the raunchy stuff posted here the last few days, could someone link me to the threads so I can be properly offended?
I guess you missed out, but you can get a reasonable sense of it all my going to the corvetteforum.com and clicking on the "Off Topic" thread and scroll down to the - "Politics, Religion @ Controversy" thread. They do get wild and woolly!!! If you want titillation, there is a Corvette dealer there that has a link to nude babes on different year corvettes, nice professional photos I think we need to keep SSR forum G rated because I see the off the wall stuff that happens over there on that forum. My 2 cents

I am sitting here shaking my head wondering how this thread has turned for the worse instead of for the better.
Honestly, most of us active members are trying our best to have a good forum here. A forum that people would want to support, not one that members would steer visitors away from. I just don't understand it.
This is a clear case of the 90/10 rule. 90% of this forum is GREAT, and 10% may need some work. So those of you who are mad at me or Marc NY or somebody on this forum, seem to dwell on the 10% and a few of you made a conscious decision to steer away a LOT of other potential members from enjoying the 90%.
I am amazed that YOU know what's best for other people? Too bad. They probably could have had some fun with us too. And it amazes me that someone will bad mouth this forum (in writing) and then state that they will be in Maggie Valley! - An event that active members from this forum put together. I am receiving mixed signals here.
My summation? - I can't fix this. Marc NY can't fix this. Troy can't fix this. It is going to take everyone on this forum to keep this a place to be proud of. Accept nothing less than what you expected this forum to be.
My vacation starts tomorrow and I'll be gone until 10/10. I hope that you all can work this out while I'm gone.

I think the post from Buffy kinda went towards my post. If I am wrong I apoligize.
I never told anyone not to join here..I just told them what my perspective was and they evidently thought enough of me that they trusted my opinion.
As far as the Maggie Valley deal.. I have no problem not showing up..None at all... As a matter of fact I will tell the wife now to just re-schedule that time frame fnext year and we can go and do something else..
