Talking interview

This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended. You gotta love the Marines!

AMERICA , THE HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE

But it never happened...

National Public Radio had this to say about the matter:

We are aware of an erroneous story posted on the Free Republic Website, and possibly elsewhere, which mentions a supposed interview between an unnamed NPR reporter and a U.S Army Lieutenant General Reinwald. The story is false — the dialogue mentioned was not an NPR interview, and it never aired on any NPR program.

Yeah, and definitely something you'd hear from a Marine.

Just exemplifies how people that are totally clueless about firearms (or weapons in general) assume that the weapon itself is evil and will make anyone possessing it an automatic homicidal maniac.

But it is exactly not from a Marine, or about "people who are totally clueless about firearms" but crass propoganda from Free Republic that give rational gun owners a bad rap.

My father was a Marine, and he taught me to shoot straight, whether with a gun, or with the truth. He and I both hate this crap.

It exactly duplicates what an NPR interview would be on the situation. I have heard enough of NPR that I am trying to figure out how to stop my tax dollars from paying for leftist propaganda from NPR. That is the point.

My point is that this is a Free Republic "manufactured" urban legends that implies a truth where none exist. It is crap. It is too stupid to have ever aired on NPR.

As for tax dollars supporting leftist (or rightist) propoganda, I couldn't agree more. The political slant has invaded entertainment to the point where we don't even know what is real or not, but we are all "more stupid" because of it. Is it really true that more people get their news from Jon Stewart than the nightly news broadcasts? Go figure...
