I had the exact same thing happen today on the laptop. I rebooted about 3 times and it was ok.

Don't have a clue what it was.

good luck

I ran some downloads last week, and almost nothing has worked right since then. I have been tempted to just open the window and throw the computer out of it, onto the ground below.

I've used the MS Update and My Computer Screwed up.

I downloaded 80 Updates at one time. I won't do that again.

Do a reboot and hit F8 as it is rebooting, then choose Safe mode.

You probably lost your IE settings. Safe Mode helps recover those files.

When in Safe Mode, you have several Choices to choose from.

You can choose; Last know good Boot. Sometimes that works also.

Mike...it may be a registry problem. Your download changed the registry settings and now there is a conflict.

I had a similar problem several months ago......download Registryfix7 and installed it.

I had 145 registry problems, some big, some small, but nonetheless this straghtened my problem out. Good Luck
