GOOD - Lund Industries...I own tanneau cover manufactured by Lund Industries. I purchased this about 5 years ago. Recently, after loaning my truck to my daughter, it was returned with a broken cover. To repair it, I sent an email to Lund (from the Contact section of the website) asking if I could purchase the two broken pieces and how I could go about doing that. To my surprise, they responded stating that the replacement parts should arrive in 5-7 days...no charge. That's astounding this day and age.
So, if your considering a purchase from this truck accessory manufacturer, I can't say enough about their product or their customer service!
BAD - Chevy...what were they thinking? Don't they think of manners when they build a vehicle? I own an 05 Colorado that I use for general hauling, etc. There is no key mechanism on the passenger door. How am I supposed to open the door for ladies without the lock present?
Now, I get that it likely saved them $20 for every vehicle built but what I don't understand is, why did they put a lock (keyed) on the tailgate? If I lock the tailgate will that prevent someone from reaching into the bed and taking garbage bags I'm hauling to the dump? I'm just asking, here...
Im in favour of no keyhole. Unlock door for the beautyfull lady with the remote.
Key on tailgate is new to me, but might slow down thief taking something heavy like bike or snowmobile.
Tow trucks always go to pass door if they have keylocks to use slim jim to unlock doors for some reason.
(After RSSRTOY mentioned theft, I talked with Brenda who works with cops, and she says that in days past they would even steel tailgates right from dealerships.)

GM stopped putting passenger side locks on way back.... Did you notice that even the SSR doesn't have a lock on that side?
Why? Sure, it saves a few $$ per unit, but why install something that only gets used a few times ever in the vehicles entire life (since pretty much every vehicle now comes with the remote keyless entry feature). It's not entirely different from back when you used to have multiple keys to the car - ignition, doors/trunk, glovebox, etc.

also one less avenue for bad guys to get in
used the remote two click and it unlocks both sides
Well, if you aren't learning something new every day, what's the purpose?
I do know the R only has a lock on the drivers door but what puzzled me was the tailgate vs the passenger door on the Colorado. Now that I've learned it keeps the tailgate on the truck, I feel much better. Especially since I have spent many days and nights in Victorville!
But, then again, it was just a rant and I sure felt better after I posted...the rant.
How about Lund Industries?

the lock on the tail gate is for the tailgate ..so no one will steal the tail gate
