Unhappy My sister next..bad news

Well after all the wonderful news about my sister getting her new home in Anthem, she is the next to lose her job in the small dental office where she was employed. She is searching for a new fulltime position and temping through a couple agencies specializing with dental and medical offices, but that will not cover life expenses! Looks like I will be helping with her mortgage for a while. Things are really getting scary out there!

Sorry to hear that Jeff.

Deb and I made an offer on an inexpensive house a few days ago for my daughter and grandkids to live in. Her credit is terrible, has no money, no job.....so I understand what you'll be contributing to.

You're a good man to help her out Jeff.

This economy will turn around and your sister will find another job. You are a good man to help her when she is down. I hope your unselfish charity comes back to you ten fold.

Good luck to all of you -

Lonnie's sister lost her job at BCBS yesterday, she is 6 months pregnant and needs the insurance (and the salary). Every day it's someone else.

As Lynn and Greg already know (wonderful friends) I sold my Caddy project yesterday and gave the money to my sister. Family is more important than things. End of one chapter and the beginning of another. I am not sad about selling it, I am happy I could for her and Cody. Here are pictures as I said goodbye to it yesterday. My sister next..bad news-p2250012.jpgMy sister next..bad news-p2250014.jpg

People losing their jobs and homes is really scary right now. So far everyone in our family is doing OK but my brother's business in Prescott Valley is having a downturn.

Today, we will be having a county-wide video conference featuring our superintendent. Many of our classrooms will be "taken back" by the districts we service and there are several teachers who will be displaced and no where to go.

Our district is offering a one-time incentive for early retirement. $10,000 before taxes. If that 10K would be added to my yearly contract pay and make this year the amount my retirement would be based on, I would take it...Tim says I can look into it. If I retire, that leaves an opening for someone who may have been released.

Jeff,
Sorry to hear about your sister. Hope she has good luck soon.
The other day I told my Manager I would not retire if he was not going to fill my position. If they have the money to pay me then they have the money to pay a replacement with less seniority and therefore lower hourly and less vacation to cover. He said they are already looking which made me feel better. It makes me feel that by retiring I am helping in a small way. Wish I could do more.

Were doing the same thing in our building (see you guys just thought I'm loafin at home) the company wanted to lay-off 10 drivers. So with 120 drivers in our building the top 40 drivers are taking time off with or with-out pay so the bottom 10 can keep working. We have always done this in our building when things slow down, it just has to be organized to work which is what I've been doing while off with my shoulder injury. Us old farts can afford to take time off to keep the youngsters working after all they have little ones still at home to support.

keep those youngsters working. it is the only way they will know what to do when you retire. I always felt that OT was a penalty for the company not hiring enough workers so I tried to get by on 40 hours a week and let the young guys with young kids take the OT if they needed the money. I only worked OT if no one else wanted it.Company tried to discipline me for not carrying my share of the load.

Thank you-

I am truly humbled by what selfless and generous people all of you are. I for one could do a lot less "talkin the talk" and a lot more "walkin the walk" - you are all an inspiration.

Grimmye: My issues pale in the company of yours. Being on oxygen cannot be fun. It must be very restricting. You are on our prayer list.

Dang it. I am sorry to hear that. The town your sister moved to is a small one isn't it? Probably not too many jobs around. Thank heavens she has you and you are able to help.
I am confused about the VW truck. No I'm not. You bought Cody a Nissan didn't you? This one was your pet project.

Exclamation

Just got the call from my sister. She landed a great full time position with a cosmetic dental office in Scottsdale! Full time and great benefits. She starts next Tuesday! Its a little far from her home at about 20 miles each way, but she is so happy! Thanks for prayers and positive thoughts when I posted her losing her job. This is a GREAT day!
