Nash Metropolitan
I posted a number of pics in the Texas Forum from the Longhorn Hot Rod Run, but this one kind of needed a larger viewing. Can't remember what engine this had in it - but it was beefed up. Weirdest little muscle car I'd ever seen.

I've had a few Mets, they are lot's of fun and easy to work on and restore. I would guess that engine is the early Buick 215 all aluminum V-8 which looked just like it's big brother Nailhead engine. No matter what you swap into that car you better have some metal working skills, it is a unibody construction and the engine bay is pretty short front to back.

Been a long time since I've seen a Metropolitan.
Metropolitans had a very unique look . . .
Kinda like a Full Sized Nash that's been washed in HOT WATER!

YAHOOOOO!!!
This is a yellow and white version of my high school auto shop final project!!
We put in a 327 (backed by a rock crusher) and tubbed the rear to take a pair of 10x15's. We both had to drive it from one end of the street and back to pass the class... It was doable in 1969 and looks like they are still doing it!!!
ALOT OF WORK!!!
BUT...
A kick in the pants to drive... made ya suck ALOT of wind (keeping it straight was not easy!!!)

Hey Art, these little Metro's probably transported many of the college folks . A good friend of mine had one ,(1958}this same color combo, as he went to Georgia Tech. on the CO-OP plan, finishing 63-64 while working as an Aero/ELECT. Engnr. at RobinsAFB, retiring about 2000 as F15 chief, so when you l@@k up & see one of these Big Birds fly over, just say there goes another one of Lamar's Yellow Jackets. When he graduated & started making the good $$$ he got an Austin Healy. Saw him 2 wks. ago & we were talking about Gas & he said I sure wish I had my Metro back for a grocery getter.
I use to have a Hudson Metroplitan. Back in 1950 Nash bought Hudson & I just happend to get a Hudson . At the time I did not know what I had, & was to young to care. One day I was coming down from Idyllwild & lost controll ran off the road & that was the end of one of the last Hudson's
Raider Keith; that picture of that Metro sure take me back to 16 years old . O-ya I bought the car for $50.oo not running. (MEMORIES) (GOOD-TIMES). It could only 3 , but we use to cram 4 or some times 5, pretty tight .

I had the little Hudson also. My Wife drove it from Bakersfield to Burbank CA. with a Front Tire Flat. I noticed the Flat and asked her if she knew that she was driving on a Flat Tire. she said she did not feel any difference.
I drove it to get the Flat Fixed. She was right that baby handled just fine with a Flat Tire.
Had A Buddy That Had A Altered With A Big Block Ford In It. So He Wanted More Speed For A Street Car. So He Bought A Metro And Put A 440 Dodge In It Man Did It Fly.......
