Early January '08 Bob Lutz ordered the camouflage to be removed from the "pre-production" test vehicles. GM said all along that the New Camaro would be very, very close to the concept. And so far that holds true, those razor sharp mirrors and massive wheels are GONE, but the replacements look good.
Standard door handles are now in place. More reasonable exhaust outlets went in and the rear fascia, roof, rear glass and decklid look a bit different.
On another note, the Corvette ZR-1 returns in mid 2008 as a 2009 model. Powered by the Supercharged LS9 w/ at least 620 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque. The 620 means 115 HP more than a Z06. Estimated price of a hundred large.
The 2009 Caddy CTS-V gets the Supercharged 550+HP LSA w/ 9 lbs of Boost.

From all of the car magazines they are taking of removing the V8 engine and will on produce V6 engines only and the down grade would be the V4s or inline 4.
So this is the last of large engines with high horse power.

There will always be people that will want the power of a big V-8 and don't care how much gas it drinks. There is no substitute for cubic inches. I'll never own a 4 cylinder of any sort.
Have seen these on Corvette test mules before too--just there so they can test cooling system capacity (towing not tested on the Ring by the way ). Net/net, won't be there on production cars.

I was just reading in the car magazines and the projected date for the new camero to hit the US streets is in Febuary 2009. A little late in the game since its debut in 2006.
