Welcome to the Fanatics from WNC. You may already know this but just in case. You need to turn the little knob to the left like it were a knob on the stove for your left mirror and clockwise for the right mirror.
Welcome from South Florida, I am guessing you have a Roadglide so also a big welcome from a fellow Harley guy, there are a lot of us here as well; you will really enjoy the family here and an amazing source for info on our trucks; glad to have ya here.

Sorry, Roadglide . . . I had to ask.
Since you know the trick, my money is on a bad or loose connection or possibly a bad switch. It's just not likely both mirror motors went South at the same time.
Pull the driver's side door panel and make sure the wire bundle from the mirror is connected to tha harness. If it's not, the mirror wire bundle will be hanging, and the connector to the harness will be lying in the bottom of the door.
If you need help, send me a PM and I'll walk you through it.

Speaking on the mirrors and not the "nuts", we had a member recently who could not locate the mirror control. When I told him where it was on the door panel he still could not locate it. We finally figured out when the remote stopped working a previous owner decided the easy way out was to remove any sign of the control knob by removing it and re-covering the door skin. One setting suits all I guess!
Now that was nutty! I don't recall the member but a search should bring it up. Repairs were all made within the door panel assembly.
