Northern Michigan-Kid Rock

All Summer Long

This song is excellent and 10 years after graduating for me brings on some great memories. They played this at the wedding and everyone got up to dance While Kid Rock has taken many different roads in his musical career....I sure do like the direction he's taking these days Gotta get this one for the cruising this summer Any new songs you would like to recommend???

All Summer Long

It was 1989 my thoughts were short my hair was long
Caught somewhere between a boy and man,
She was 17 and she was far from in-between
It was summer-time in Northern Michigan

Splashing through the sand-bar, talking by the camp fire,
It's the simple things in life like when and where
We didn't have no internet but man I never will forget
The way the moon light shined upon her hair

And, we were trying different things we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whisky out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Catching walleye from the dock watching the waves roll off the rocks
She'll forever hold a spot inside my soul
We blister in the sun we couldn't wait for night to come
To hit that saving place of rock and roll

While, we were trying different things we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whisky out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Now nothing seems as strange as when the leaves begin to change
Or how we thought those days would never end
Sometimes I hear that song and I start to sing along
And think, Man I'd love to see that girl again

And, we were trying different things we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whisky out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

We were trying different things we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
Sipping whisky out the bottle not thinking bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

I've never cared much for Kid Rock, but I do like that song. He performed it on Letterman's show a couple of weeks ago. The song has riffs from at least 3 other older songs, including Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama". I forget the other one he mentioned...

I just heard it for the first time and I thought I was hearing Werewolves of London, then Sweet Home Alabama, then was trying to remember if Werewolves sounded that much like Sweet Home Alabama.

Anyway, I liked it - it's one of those sunny day, top down, feel good kinda songs!

Good tune, I bought this CD back in Decmeber and when I played it this song jumped out at me. It was the Sweet Home Alabama music

I have not always liked his music but have been buying his CD's since the last three he put out. Still dont like everything on the CD's but like some of it.
I have always liked his rebellious side and the way he goes into music that some think he is not "suited" for.

Anyone notice on this video that the young girl is a Pamela Anderson clone? (his X)

Not a big Kid rock fan myself.
Love the blues/rock lead guitar in the song. Not as complicated as the original, but it rocks steady!

All summer long

Some of the local country stations have been playing this quite a bit, I like it. I also like the duet he and Sheryl Crowe did a couple of years ago but not much else of his music. I gues i need to get this CD and see if there is anything else on it I might like.

I saw Kid Rock at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tn. last year, the place only holds 2300 people. It was incredible, he blew the roof off that place.

I saw him at the outdoor ampitheater in Nashville, that place has since been torn down. Saw him at the big arena in Nashville as well. He came to Huntsville, AL. to the civic center, I was at that one to.

I bought a used truck about 7 years ago and a Kid Rock CD was left in the stereo. I have been a fan ever since.

On a side note I saw Mark Knopfler from Dire straits Tuesday night at the Ryman, my brother had swung a deal and got us front row center seats. That show was way....way......good.

If your ever in Nashville you should check out a show at the Ryman. Welcome to Nashville's Historic Ryman Auditorium

I went to itunes to download the song but they don't have it listed and they only have one very early CD listed of Kid Rocks guess I will have to head to Best buy, since WalMart won't sell the Explicit version, even if I want the nice(r) version I hate that Walmart thinks they can tell people what they can or can't buy!

IMO, there are only a handful of guitar players that can compete with Mark Knopfler - Clapton, BB, Santana, and the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn . I'm sure there are others that will come to mind, but these guys all have a signature style of playing the blues that is easily distinguishable.

I've seen Clapton, BB King, and Stevie Ray......never saw Santana. You have good taste in music!

That song has been played here for quite sometime. I just happen to have a fond memory of a gal that fits this song. I like the song but it is kinda personal to me.

Thanks for the tip....

As I suspected many classics on Woodward were playing this song while cruising I'll see if I can catch it on a link.

That Warren Zevon song "Werewolves of London" and Lynrd Skynrd's "Sweet Home Alabama"....... I saw this this morning on G.M.A. The Detroit boy and those Florida guys did sound good together. I agree Reb, that song does stick in your head.
