I called over there and yes, they have added an aftermarket ground effects package and hood scoops, etc., which apparently adds another $10K-$12K to the bottom line.
Actually, the white one is now this metallic color that they had done to it. They took the whole car apart and painted it quite well. I checked every seal and seam and they definately did a good paint job. No overspray, underspray, etc.

At $47K, I'd just go out and buy myself a Series I or II Jaguar E-Type roadster.

And for someone of my size, no room at all whatsoever on the interior. At 6'3", I cant even fit in the thing. I do fit in the old Jag though, and it's got more trunk space! I could just about restore both my Triumph Tr3A and basket case MGA MkII for that money too. (The MGA's going to the scrap yard as it'll cost about 20K to rebuild the body - which is all the car's really worth).
THIS is were GM loses it. This car, hopped up and all, IS not a Corvette and should not be priced like one. I seen one going down the street today and wondered why there isn't more, now I know. Solistis or Vette? Not even close!
I'm not saying it isn't a nice car, just WAY overpriced! Same as the XLR! This car should be in the 22-28k range period!
Just my 02c.
Overpriced? They start at 20K! This one just has about 10-15K in aftermarket parts plus paint added to it. There are a wide variety of price ranges for the solstice or the sky to fit anyone's wallet.
Not many around? Why? They are producing the skys and solstices in small amounts because the market for this is very saturated and if they made a ton of em, they would stack up on the dealers lots and they would later have to practically give them away at ridiculously low prices. The production numbers are definately in line with customer demand and there is a small number of individuals that fit financially and physcially in this type of vehicle. I have driven both the sky and solstice and it is just a matter of personal preference as far as which one to get. If you like curves, you go with the solstice, if you like edges and angles, you go with the sky. The base models without the turbo start at just over 19K, the Sky Redline (Turbo) or Solstice GXP (turbo) are in the upper 20's. I have to disagree, GM has a winner with both of these beauties. I'm just waiting for all the bells and whistles to come in the third model year.
