Our 1st "R"ound trip!

Had a trip planned to Chicago for New Years. We were going to fly,but the week prior I seen a great looking forcast. Decided to take the instead. Installed the new tires and lowering kit I've been setting on for awhile, threw the suitcases in the back, and set the cruise on smile!

1500 miles of fun, with no tickets! We were a little worried it'd be uncomfortable on a long run,but we really enjoyed it. I-70 through KC and St.Louis then 57 north. On the way back we headed west at Champaign taking highway 36 through Missouri.

Spent the night in Hannibal,Mo. where we drew a lot of attention cruising the streets of Mark Twain's home town. Everyone there acted like they had never seen an SSR before. If your ever through there checkout the lookout point called "Lovers Leap".

our first "road trip" with the R was from Calgary to Chicago, drove the entire route 66 to LA, met some awesome people and made tons of new friends, to Vegas back to Calgary, just over 10,000 kms ..... loved every minute .... and NO boys in blue in the mirror.

Great trip - glad there wasn't any snow. I've been thru Hannibal, great lookout on the Missouri. BTW what were your new tires that gave you such a good drive?

After much research and thought I went with Continental CrossContact UHP's in the OEM sizes. They balanced out well, ride good, quiet, and track great. Haven't run them in rain or thrown them into a curve yet though. Did carry pies and treats home in the very back for 700 miles. Even a 1/2 eaten mincemeat pie that didn't spreadout across the pan,so she's riding pretty smooth. Messed around with the air pressure on the way up,and found 40 lbs. front/36 lbs. in the rear was the smoothest and quietest at 65-80 mph.

Was thinking about dropping the gear ratio earlier, but not sure now. She cruises at 80 mph so nice I hate to screw with it.
