Our first major snow of the season...

Well, here it is...6-8 inches of virgin white powder (imagine the ski resorts got 2-3 feet or more as it's still coming down). Haven't had an opportunity to use the snowblower in a couple of years (south facing driveway), but looks like today is the day (hope it starts). This storm looks like it could be a major snow producer and it's headed east so you snow skiers get ready (I know our Cocker Spaniel is having a blast out in the back yard right about now)!

Snow

Pic's are still in the camera but Tehachapi, CA looks like Utah this morning. A Winter Wonderland.

Well it took a while, but the Toro snowblower fired up finally. It's still coming down and I think the forcast is for another 3 inches this morning. Trick is with this snowblower is not to let the snow pile up higher than 8 inches as more than that tends to bog it down making it ineffective. Since I have lived here (going on 10 years now), only once have I had to plow twice in one day. Since we have southern exposure, I tend to let nature take its course and melt it off in a few days.

Please send it East. Got my other toys sitting in the garage.Supposed to be in the 60's today. Guess I will just polish the sled up and go for a cruise in the SSR. At least there is a bright spot to this weather.

Looks like we're just getting hit with a lot of snow bands off the mountains (we're in Draper near the mountains).

Hope it keeps coming down, We need Lake Powell and Lake Mead refilled. Both lakes are down 90-125 feet in the last 5 years.

Hockey Team Christmas Party Alteration

I have been hosting my Sunday Morning Hockey Team Christmas party for some years now and generally have not had a problem keeping the beer cold (my Canadian friends know all too well that a virtually unlimited supply of beer is a pre-requisite for a hockey team party).

As temperatures hit close to 60 today, sitting the beer outside my rear door to keep cold was no going to work. I had to come up with an alternate plan. So off came the pool cover and our problem was solved!

A nice warmup (literally) to Christmas in Key West.

Best of the season to all of my SSRFanatic friends......

We haven't had our lawn cut since October. Here in east Sandy/Draper we ended up with about a foot of fresh powder...the most we have gotten in one storm in a very long time.
