LOS ANGELES (AP) - Rick Springfield has been released from jail after being arrested by sheriff's deputies Sunday night on suspicion of drunken driving.
The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says in a news release the rocker was stopped around 8 p.m. after a deputy spotted him speeding in his 1963 Corvette on Pacific Coast Highway.
The department states a test showed Springfield's blood-alcohol content was .10 percent, which is over the .08 limit in which a percent is presumed to be drunk.
The singer was released Monday around 2 a.m. and is due in a courtroom in Malibu for a first appearance on July 5.
A phone message for Springfield's publicist Kim Jackwerth was not immediately returned.
I feel bad for the guy, if this had happened to any non celebrity it would not be news, and compared to everything else going on in the world this week I am kind of surprised that it is. I'm glad in my small world I am able to suffer my mistakes in relative obscurity.

Agreed. That said, it might help your small world to remain relatively obscure if you don't tell everybody about your snow camping trip in Tucson.....

The very nature of consuming alcohol is so imprecise while the line in the sand is so precise. People generally guess at how long they've drinking and how much they have consumed and then use a brain that is somewhat muddled to decide if they should drive. If they had caught him ten minutes earlier Springfield might have been a .09 and if he weighed ten pounds more he might have been a .07.

, Greg . . . but there's price to pay for a celebrity status and I believe the positives far outweigh the negatives, especially if material wealth is important.
Rick Springfield Is he the well known pool guy or have I got names mix up?
I'm the pool guy...(balls type).
Ok so Rick got pulled over. Nobody got hurt. No harm done. Hopefully it's just a learning experience. He'll pay the bill and move on. He's Human. Case closed. However..his Vette..I'm jealous. I'd rather be caught in a 63 Vette than a 2009 CUBE

They would not stop you if you were driving a CUBE.

Seriously, why would a police officer pursue a Cube? That would not look good on COPS. A Ford with the Police Interceptor having trouble keeping up the Box. I think I need a new bumper sticker.."Chase the Cube and you're Toast"
Anyway...let's talk about Rick...what other cars does he have.
What is your fav RS Album
Ladies: If you were alone on an Island....would you want to be with Rick or ...pick any Fanatic here. ( I'm busy playing pool...so take me off the list)

from all your remarks, I take it none of you has lost a love one to a drunk driver. Poor Rick? That's
Let's skip the Rick part. We can start a separate thread on this. DWI is very wrong. I've been there in the early years....very fortunate that I never hurt anyone or myself or got stopped. I'm lucky and thankful.
Every drunk & distracted driver is a menace.

True enough.
But I'll bet you every one of them will tell you right to your face that they're "OK" to drive!
