Unhappy Sad (Nautical) Dave

Last night at about 11:00, with Dave's help from overseas, I had to have his (our!) beloved English Springer Spaniel put to sleep. Willie was 16 years old on April 4th, and the best dog on earth (in our humble opinion - and hopefully our other two dogs don't see this post). Again, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Michael and Sandy (BluDragon) for helping me through this. Especially Sandy, who went with me to the animal hospital, and stayed with me to the very end for moral support and courage to stay with Will to the end as he deserved. SSR Fanatics are the best!

Willie - you will never be forgotten!

I know a pet is amember of the family and losing any membeer of the family is always difficult. May your other dogs be your comfort in the immediate future, especially since Dave is not home.

I'm so sorry about the loss of Willie. It is a very difficult thing having been through it myself. Our pets are like family. May you find comfort in your memories of your friend.

I'm sorry to hear this. Springers are the sweetest little guys. My friend had a springer named Spike. He'd put a ball in your lap and wait for you to throw it so he could retrieve it. When a person stopped doing this with him...he would go to the next person available.
You just brought back a nice memory.
Jewlz & Dave...you gave Willie a great life...

Julie, It was an honor to meet your four legged family, I was grateful to meet Willie and Max, they have brought back so many lovely memories of my springer Lacey. Willie was Sweet, gentle and loving. He was also lucky to have had a family that loved him as much and you, Dave, and Brandon did. If you need anything we're here for you.
Take care,
Sandy & Michael

So sorry to hear about your pet. As many others have mention we all seem to go through this. Our's was last Thanksgiving when we had to put down our 12 year old Golden. Of course the best dog ever (our opinion). Take care and take comfort in that you have two other tail waggin friends with you .

Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My heart goes out to you. My Springer (Patches) only made it 13 yrs but she was my best buddy and is now buried in Yosemite behind the Chapel on the valley floor. It was our first trip together and I thought it appropriate to have it as her last resting place... Heaven on Earth...

Now We have two Old English Sheepdogs... Our kids with four legs and no thumbs

My prayers are with Willie

Right there wth ya....

I am so sorry to hear that you had to go through this. It's a real heartbreaker. I'm glad you had support.

I had to put Noel, my 17 year old Flat Coated Retriever, down about 3 weeks ago and I am still grieving. She was as much a part of my life as I know Willie was of yours.

There is a deep hole in my heart too.

Regards,

Mike

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I too have had to make the choice of holding on or letting go. Its the love we have for our 4 legged Friend's that lets us say goodbye, to stop their pain.

Say his name every morning, keep him in your heart through each day, and at night you will find he is still with your family. God Bless

Pasta.

So sorry to hear that. We went through that with our 15-year-old German Shephard, Thor, and it was the hardest thing we ever did. We are really at the point with our 17-year-old Dalmation, but we're having such a hard time working up the courage again. Michael and Sandy are wonderful people.
