Drove a Scion today. It is priced right. The quality is there. But it's not for me.
We looked a loaded Box...I mean Cube. Did the #'s and might buy it.
It is Steel Gray and bad asz looking. Will you Fanatics still be my friend? Would you park your R next to the Cube?

I was think'n James Dean drove a Boxter. Well until it Killed him.
But if you don't mind we could call it a Boxter and think Porsche. That might take the chill away.
The cube is a hideous assymetrical cartoon. You get more bang for your buck with the multifunctional Honda Element, but the ScionXB performs way better and has more storage and is bascically the better all around box car. I for one would go for the minicooper ClubmanS. I have had my laser blue with the upgraded suspension and race package and it flies like a rocket, holds tons of stuff, and is a real hoot to drive. It also handles extremely well in autocross, more so than our shorter minicooper (we have two). The service at BMW minicooper is undeniably the best on the planet. They actually gave me a tuner version of the mini as a loaner once and it was real hard to give it back (it was the John Cooper Works red miniS).

A few comments:
The Cube is funny looking...but so am I.
The Scion is a great functional no frills ride but unexciting and uninteresting.
I wanted a Mini and might get one someday. It would be a MCS Vert or JCW Clubman. They run $10-$15,000 more than the Cube. I just want cheap transportation for now.
My wife is not on the same page so the Mini is out. She does not like the size/lowness of the Coop. Also I would not buy it in Auto and she can't drive a manual.
The Cube & Mini cannot be compared. Period
I'm in a community where a Golf cart would be sufficient for me. The Cube is a Golf cart with a hard top. It's going to be parked in a community parking lot, mall lots and general parking areas.
My biggest complaint on the Cube is the HorsePower. It accelerates like a snail with airbrakes.
If I were in that market I would get a chevy HHR. Same price pretty much for a better looking ride and even more space or at least equal to the cube. You are correct on our minis. Very expensive and I would never drive an auto either! The stick is so responsive and addictive! Good luck in your choice whatever you decide. Now that I know what you are going to do, I would definitely not get something where I would be worrying about door dings and stuff. Point well made!
