It is amazing to see so many videos like this where once a guy is down people stomp on them. They do it so naturally, must have learned it growing up. I've never heard of anyone being charged because of video evidence from a riot either. Most auto insurance policies don't cover damage from riot or civil disobedience here in Texas.

Jeez, watched the news tonight and it was a lot worse than I thought. If Vancouver gets back to the Cup they may rethink the notion of having jumbo TV screens in the streets where crowds of around 100000 were able to amass. It sounds like a fair amount was instigated by a criminal element who had preplanned it and the police are asking for any video assistance. They showed a very clear shot of some moron stuffing a rag into the gas receptacle of a police cruiser.

What did they expect, they put Jumbo trons in the streets, then invite 100,000 people to watch the Nuk's loose. Their not all hockey fans! You would have thought they would have learned from the last time the Nuk's went to the finals.
Being a Canucks fan, this display of violence is very disturbing. While sports fans got involved, the riot was incited by some hooligans. They brought the car and cans of gas, so it wouldn't have mattered who won. Other communities in BC had public gatherings and no violence.
Same thing happened in 1994, but all the press was in New York.

Sad day for Vancouver and reflects on all Canadians. They put a jumbo tron, turn there heads to all the drinking going on and the people started gathing 6 hrs b4 game time, then you have the IDIOTS that went knowing they were going to do that and if they had won it might have been worse.
Krazy Ed
Last night was a really sad event. The police have identified many participants as the same group who caused disturbances the first two nights of the olympics. Some were also involved in disturbances in Toronto last year at the G-whatever # summit. The good news is the thousands of videos and camera shots that police already have, plus the efforts on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to identify the hooligans.
Thugs who show up with backpacks filled with molotov cocktails, rocks and bricks are not there to watch a hockey game. Hate to see 100000 people having a good time forced to give up that opportunity in the future because of a small number of testosterone and beer filled idiots with teeny weenies.
The events in Vancouver are not the first. Kelowna had to cancel its Regatta due to similar disturbances. Penticton's Peach Fest was moved back from the August holiday weekend to try to eliminate the riots that happened two years in a row. Montreal has had similar problems when the Canadians lost. It's also happened in many other cities after sports events.
The events today have largely gone unreported. Over 10000 Vancouver citizens were downtown helping with the clean up.
Also interesting today to read about the number of Facebook posts made prior to the game by some of these braindead idiots that make it very clear they were already planning this attack on the city. The amount of solid evidence the VPD now has in its hands is amazing. These guys were beyond stupid.

I was in Calgary this whole week and watched in disbelief on the TV. Those international traveling hooligans struck again! These few people were hell bent on ruining the town. And the beer crazed few that joined in hopefully have very heavy hearts in these days that follow. I heard on the telecast that if only the on-lookers had gone home right after the game that this would not have spiraled out of control like it did, I agree.
Glad to hear that the people were getting out there and helping clean-up. But with so much damage I wonder if the low life insurance companies will find a clause so they don't have to pay up. Perhaps those overpaid professional athletes can come up with a few million bucks to help out.

lots of photographs in My Gallery
The Vancouver Province ran several pages of very clear numbered photos of the hooligans today, asking for identifications.
Several private websites have sprung up, asking for facebook and phone photo evidence, videos, etc to be forwarded. Once they have multiple positive IDs, info is forwarded to VPD.
Some of the brain dead idiots have had their Facebook and Iphone braggings, complete with photos, seized as confessions of their involvement.
Quite a few postings have been uncovered from BEFORE the game, making plans to create havoc later.
This had nothing to do with a lost hockey game. It was an opportunity to incite trouble, using a large crowd of relatively innocent bystanders as a buffer to prevent quick police action. It's unfortunate that so many just stood around watching the mayhem. Several reports of good samaritans trying to protect storefronts getting pumelled for their efforts.
Still don't know why they didn't have several fire trucks deployed prior to the event. High pressure nozzles do wonders to cool down a rowdy crowd with minimal damage or injury.

I find it very disturbing this thread has prompted so many negative comments against Canadians.
Believe me, there are more than enough arrogant, ignorant azzholes on both sides of the border and I refuse to refer to them as "Poor Sports" as it is obvious from their actions, they are anything but "Sports" so maybe THUGS is a better term.
Sadly, Canada definitely does not have the market cornered on individuals of this caliber.

MY TWO CENTS WORTH.
I was in Vancouver BC for the UFC fights 6-11-11, I drove up Thursday for the fights but friday game 6 was being played. I was at a party friday on seymoure st with my hummer parked accross the street, after Vancouvers win the city was crazy with so many people happy about the win, I have never seen so many folks on the streets screaming well into the night, I drove home Sunday, as we watched the game we saw the Violence erupt on the same street I was at a few days before, I am thinking my Hummer would of been destroyed and I think my wife and self would of felt real uneasy. Just glad we were back home.
More good news today. VPD has received over 100000 tips in two days. Several arrests today, 6 participants turned themselves in, several others turned in by their parents, family or friends.

Thats great but we'll see what the justice system does to those convicted. Not getting my hopes up.........
It's too bad so many otherwise good kids got caught up in this frenzy. One participant, once identified, was suspended from the Canadian National Water Polo team.
Tough way to learn.

He's going to learn a hard lesson, scary how quickly mob mentality can take over especially with younger people.
