They had a Volt tent on Woodward this past weekend. I never got a chance to stop by and check it out.
On the way to and from Detroit, I have to pass by the Lordstown (OH) assembly plant. That's where they are going to be building the Cruze - and they let you know it too. There is one of those gi-mongous banners on the building like the Lansing plant had of the SSR.
There's someone at work that once worked at Lordstown... and from what I heard of what goes on there, I'm not sure I'll ever, EVER buy a car that is built there.
Electricity ain't free and daily charging will definitely add to the bill.
Plus the Battery is a big expense. 10,K and Change. This Car is just to appease the Government Motor Division. Technology is way too far behind to build these Environment Killers. Check on how much it will cost you to put that Battery in the Hazardous waste Dump. You will have to pay in perpetuity.

More for show . . . probably no more or less than the current hybrids.

There is too much of this Common sense stuff that is not told to the Average Joe. So Joe thinks he is helping the Environment. Maybe thats why that wacko tried to burn up that Toyota Prius on the EL LAY Freeway a few months ago. He found out how much he was losing.
Also, that engine starting and stopping all the time would drive me nuts.
Man I see these Hybrids stuck on the freeway all the time. I always point them out to Chris as we Pass by. Most of them are Prius. But I think they have sold the most of these Happy Vehicles to unsuspecting Happy People.

My neighbors have a Highlander Hybrid and it spends lots of time in the shop with mostly electrical problems.
What's even more interesting is the less than impressive highway mileage. City mileage is pretty good but not on the open road.

Definitely not my cup of tea.
DC Electric Motors can only run for a short time without Burning up. This is why all the Electric Babys are held to the mileage limit. Any more driving would burn up the Motor. There again Technology hasn't caught up with the Needs of the Government Mandates. GOOFY STUFF in my opinion.
A/C Motors will run all day. But you need A/C power. So now we need to build Cars with Atomic Reactors to make the Government Happy. GOOFY STUFF!

Come on Moody ... be realistic! I'm on the 101 Freeway just about every day and I don't see those hybrids stuck on the freeway.

I am going to have to pass on the VOLT. I have the original Honda Insight and was one of the original guinea pigs. I know what a small hybrid battery cost and no way would I want to have to pay for the VOLT's battery when it fails and is not covered. I also remember having to search for a Honda Dealership with an Insight specialist. I hope Chevy dealerships have experts on in the shop!

Have a friend that wotrks for Toyota and he claims Prius has been really depenable after the first year. Would never pay 40000.00 for a hybrid. What would we do for the missing rumble in our v/8.
