Funny I saw one today. It was from OK. My Wife and I was wondering how it got here. They are supposed to have a bad reputation for breaking down. But this guy made it 1600 miles.

Sometimes it's better to be Lucky than, Good ! Changed out the oil pressure sending unit this morning. All Is Good, Now! Gauge is reading just fine.
Just B-4 the DIC oil life got to 2%, the gauge started going.... whacky. First low, then hi, then pegged hi, then pegged low. When it went to low, the check guage light came on and the DIC said Low Oil Pressure... Shut Engine Off, but the Oil Light never came On. Then, the needle would swing from Hi at idle to zero upon acceleration and stay there. It was a change from the original...pegged on Hi. Oil&filter change did not change the symptoms. No odd noises like marbles loose in the engine..... everything sounds normal, just the visuals changed.
$40 bucks for the unit and I'm back to a Happy Camper today!

Transducers normally last for a long time. But you are right around its life span. 10 years is a long time for 230 degree Oil, being shoved up a small orifice.

O/P has always been around 60PSI on my gauge since day 1. Hawk has been just above 40PSI. Her sending unit went out a year ago, still under warranty. I just clicked 88K yesterday. I asked Umpire13 for a 2nd opinion when Hawks gauge was going wacky, so I had something to compare the symptome with. I just Love the input from this Family.

I have always watched my O/P rise, after I start my Engine. I frequently scan all my instrumentation; as I Toodle along. I started my engine on my 1960 Chevy Impalla, when I was a 16 year old. It didn't pump up. So I shut the engine off.
I saved that Engine; because of the good training I received from my, eight older brothers.
