What do you find in the mountains of Idaho ?.

You're thinking something made out of wood....Right?

Not even close. Check out these pictures.

These bears are made from Pine Needles!

A couple of hundred thousand of them in one large bear.

The pine needles were gathered off the ground, sorted, washed, trimmed and hand woven.

Over 8 months in making the life size bear!
To make a living the artist carves Antlers and other materials.

Moose, Deer, Elk, horn, wood, ivory and more.

Whatever he can find.

His work should be seen.

If you agree, send this to all your friends.

I know the artist would love to hear from you.

Just to know where his art is being seen around the world.

He said he would reply to every email and

print every letter for his scrapbook.

You can write him here at:mntmagic@custertel.net

His name is Richard Carpenter

So if you're in the Secret Santa and have access to pine cones........here's and idea

HRG,
What part of Idaho is the artist from?
How did you find out about him?

I have a brother in Eagle, ID, near Boise.

The e-mail does not tell me what part of Idaho he is from......It does include his name and an e-mail....maybe we should send him an e-mail letting him know how extraordinary and beautiful his work is

Nice Talent. We have a Lady here in Taft California that does Beautiful work with Pine needles. She is in her 90's and she still teaches classes on Pine Needle Weaving.

Believe it or not she learned it from the Cherokees of North Carolina when she was a Kid.

I received a reply email from Richard the artist.
He was very friendly and offered more information on the area where he lives and Idaho. Richard Carpenter - folk art - woven pine needle bear sculptures, antler carving, miniature art - at where art meets the heart

He said he is working on his own web site and hopes to be able to sell his art there. When up and running, it will be: MountainMagicOriginals.com, Home of the Pine Needle Bear by Richard Carpenter
