Where's the GAS . . . is This a FOR TRUE?
I've been driving for many years and I would think I should have noticed the little
secret on my dashboard that was staring me in the face the whole time. I didn't
and I bet you didn't either!
Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the gas station wondered,
hmmmmmmm, which side is the gas filler cap?
My normal solution was to stick my head out the window, strain my neck and look,
try to see in the side mirrors or even get out of the car!
Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no
longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the gas station or put your neck at risk of
discomfort or injury.
If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump? The handle of
the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the gas pump.
If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left. If your tank is on the right,
the handle will be on the right (see photo). It is that simple!
Don't feel dumb, just go out and share the world's best kept auto secret with your friends.

Confused since birth
Po little pig...I feel so sorry for The Pig. He gets so confused - Its because he was raised by a surrogate, his mother went off to Market and never returned. A nice Barn Spider named Charlotte got a surrogate mother for him but it just confused The Po Pig...Po little Pig..
Couldn't roar - only grunt..................

When we came back from picking the up in Phoenix Tim was driving and pulled into a service station. I asked him if he knew which side the tank was on, he said "yes, its on the dash". Not driving the today so will have to check once I get home.

Lots of vehicles have an arrow pointing to the side of the vehicle where the fuel door is. The HHR has an arrow. I have actually seen the words "fuel door" with an arrow in the guage area on other vehicles. Never heard of the fill nozzle being an indicator.

In the original thumbnail the gauge on the left looks totally bizarre. Methinks it is falsified. The pump looks like the bodybuilder giving the girls directions to the beach and the gauge itself seems backwards.
Most of my stuff has been older and I have never noticed arrows or fuel door notations but certainly is a good idea.

No more for the Po Pig
Oh look at that... The Corvette dash in my above post has the handle icon on the RIGHT, but the gas filler is on the left.... behind the door handle. See my Corvette...click on thumbnail to see the filler door clearly.
Shoots a few holes in the Doofus idea..Po Pig...just confused....
My 1985 Monte Carlo 'Super Sport' has the gas filler behind the license tag in the middle of bumper.

You are so right Roger. I drive alot of GM cars for dealers, and this is what I look at b/4 stopping at the gas pump. < or >

While it's NOT Universal, yet..... yes, many 'newer' IP's have a left or right nozzle to direct the "operator" to the correct side for the fuel door. Big 3 seem to be the slowest to make the changeover..... just an observation....
