Not sure why they are selling. As a new owner I couldn't be happier. I just picked up my 1st SSR. 2004 yellow with 937 original miles. Perfect car and fun. This is a keeper.

I've owned a zillion GMC trucks. I'm not a Chevy cheerleader, I just always thought GM has the best trucks to take the abuse of construction work. Loved them all, but when the time comes (usually around 160,000 when the tranny is starting to go), then I'll say good-bye to her and move on. It's a truck. It's my combination office, equipment, material and parts hauler, and convertible jobsite roadster. And I will have enjoyed every minute. I'm not all that pleased in the way GMC is treating their loyal customers these days so, just maybe, for the first time I might leave GM with the next one if its a truck. If I'm retiring and I don't need a truck, then maybe a Porsche or Beamer. I even like the small simplicity of the Pontiac Solstice.
I'll miss the fellowship with the Fanatics a whole bunch, however.
I personally think the rash of sales is because a lot of owners are realizing what Lee Iococca was talking about when he insisted the Mustang must have a back seat. Didn't have to be a big one, just something that a couple could use to take the kids (or grandkids ) to a movie or maybe another couple to dinner or the theatre. I think many are realizing the limitations of a vehicle that only seats 2 passengers. Just my thoughts on the topic.

Linda,

Have been through a lot of cars in my life, but every once in a while you run into a special one that grabs your heart. I have had my Morgan for 22 years. It is looking like the SSR may be another one.
Of course the Morgan Motor company still supplies parts for my 26 year old Morgan, don't think Chevy is going to provide that kind of service for the SSR.
They'll have to pry it off my dead rear end, or something to that effect.
The SSR is more than a truck, its a Phenominum, and as time goes on will only enrich the owner as he/she takes the road and with any luck appreciate in value.
I see ownership as a win win situation.
Just my humble opinion, and I owned an Edsel and said the same thing. just kidding.
I bought 2 of them
I loved my SSR. I bought mine for the advertising benefit and had markings on it. I also had a Silverado Crew. Hurricane Rita placed the top of a tree on the Silverado and squished it. For a while the SSR was my only transportation. I have never kept vehicles long and I needed more space for passengers. The timing seemed right.
I traded my '04. I was given $25,500.00 for it. I thought that was fair. I paid $30,700.00 for it two years earlier. My employer was paying me for the advertising. It really didn't cost me very much to own it for the two years.
My dealership sold my '04 for $29,995.00. The persons who bought it were not educated on the different years and engines, etc. They are quite happy.
I was glad they got a high price for it instead of auctioning it off for nothing.
I am now driving the new body style Silverado Crew. I really like it, although I miss going topless and hearing the rumble.

I don't think we'll ever be without an SSR. I do trade in my Vettes about every 2 years, waiting for the C6 Z06 to hit my price range without having to trade in my Vette AND an SSR.

I've pretty much lost interest in all but the Hummer and the SSR's. All the rest are for sale to the right person.....
Oh yeah, and I have a Camaro ordered, whenever they become available.....

Love Is
When I saw the commercial of an SSR backing on to a car carrier I had to have one. I am now retired and every time I start it up I am overrun with joy. Not selling.
Like many of the other posters, (is that a proper use of that word?) I not only plan to keep Yellow, but I'd like to buy a spare or three. But then, I want a new Harley, a new sailboat, a 1928 - 1930 Ford Coupe w/ rumble seat and eventually retire. Well, I'll just have to work longer.
Yellow has already been promised to my oldest when I go to the Great SSR Garage in the sky.
Doug:
If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. BIG THANKS on the gears. I can't wait to get them installed.
MODAWGS
MODAWGS, that doesn't always work either. I'm 70 now and NEVER SMOKED A CIGARETTE in my life and I'm on oqxygen 24hrs 7 days and they (Doc's) don't know why. Just full of scar tissue with no know cause for it being there. Worked 40+ years in A/C Enginering bluildings. Go Figure! But at least I can still drive my SSR. grimmye

I sold my Silver 2005 SSR automatic on Memorial Day.
I had already lined up a couple of contenders to replace it.
A 2005 Silver 6 speed with 2,600 miles on it or a 2006 Pacific Blue 6 speed with 14,500 miles on it for $5K more.
I ended up buying the 2005 Silver SSR 6 speed. You can buy a lot of stuff for $5K.
I love the 6 speed.

I think there were some folks that thought that because the SSR was a limited production truck that they would almost immediatleyappreciate. Unfortunately, thye didn't jump in price like some thought they would. Too impatient, they will, it'll just take a while.... Meanwhile, they are selling their trucks while those of us that bought htem because the are SOOOO COOOL, are enjoying the Heck out of them. If they want to sell theirs ....... they're loss.
I only wish I could buy one for each day of the week!!! Red for Sunday, Silver for Tuesday, Two Tone for Wednesday, Yellow for Thursday, Black for Friday, and of course the Blur is for Saturday!! (wishful thinking)

I may not always drive it, but I am pretty sure I will never sell it either. The SSR is a very special vehicle and even those who paid the high $$ did not get ripped off.
I own a Vette , Harleys and have owned other nice GM muscle cars, but the SSR is like a Vette, nothing else can replace it, Style, curb ( sex) appeal, power, handling, the ride and that feeling every time you walk into your garage you look at it and realize , man, how lucky am I to have that thing!.
While there will always be new amazing cars, the SSR is and will always be so unique, some people and a lots from this group will enjoy it to the grave.
I too plan on a newer Vette someday, but the SSR isn't going anywhere!
I also agree low mileage 05/ 06s will appreciate VERY much down the road (20yrs)
I have stock 1970 Harleys and Triumphs that fetch 5x and more what they sold for originally and there is always demand for stuff like that.
The people who have owned their SSRs a short time, were just caught up in a fad or a short irrational "gotta have" moment. That is ok, spice can be the variety of life. People who keep there SSRs really are stll just having fun with it, and they should, it is a nice vehicle.
I couldn't use mine a s a daily driver, just want it for that special ride, when I feel the need to feel proud of myself, I have worked hard and feel good that I can enjoy this rare vehicle. It is my reward! What can I say my Sinister Black Diamond is my pride and joy!
