Mike installed his "spare tire kit" for me on Sunday morning - he did an excellant job. Any one interested in purchasing a kit - I highly recommend Mike's. It's a "complete" kit, includes everything you need, plus some extra touches Mike did on his own. The quality is just what you would expect from Mike.
Thanks Mike & thanks Debbie for letting Mike work on a Sunday! Gene
It was nice of you to let me do a little development work on your truck. The great thing is that I am going to eliminate removing the fender liner. we just have to pull two screws out of the back side and pull it forward. That thing is a pain to get in and out....
I also am now convinced that the Goodyear Intergity 225/65-17 is the right sized tire. It ends up about 28.75" tall whaen mounted on the 17x7 wheel and fits perfectly into the space under the rear. I'll be getting Dwight (Blue Streak) to change his out as well......
the pleasure was mine.
Mike

I take it, from the one pic floating around of the spare tire kit, that seens how the tire hangs down so low, that the battery wasnt relocated?
I have been kicking around the spare kit but have only seen one picture and dont care for how far the tire hangs down out from under the rear bumper cover.
I have the kit and it is barely noticable. The black undercarriage blends with the tire so I am happy to have the piece of mind back there in case of a blowout...without giving up the bed space.

In all fairness I think the spare hides pretty well as shown in these pictures which were taken when I had the larger 235/65 R17 which did not allow the trailer hitch to be mounted. The wheel is also a silver cast wheel and not a black steel wheel. The pictures were not taken to accent or hide the spare, but it is there.

Is this the photo you're talking about? I've seen a number of them & those who have dark wheels aren't so noticeable as this photo. With this SSR Spare Tire Kit from Simple Engineering, the battery is relocate.

He has the 225/65/R17 tire and this show what a difference it makes. The trailer hitch fits and the tire effectively disappears. I made the change but not until after all the above pictures were taken.

Just an FYI, DZH . . . I've had an OEM Front Tire and Wheel (probably flat by now) in the bed for years and, KNOCK ON WOOD, it has never been used and/or needed.
Curt I was at cars and coffee with David and it rained he would not drive it home until it dried up . Doophus at leased you did drive up to the tec session .
