Magnuson pulley removal

I can't figure out how to remove the pulley!Previous threads make mention of placing a wrench near back of shaft. There is no place for any wrench, and there is only about 1" between the rear pulley and firewall. Help

You should be able to loosen the bolt with a socket and holding the belt and pully by hand Jim G on this site broke a shaft buy trying to hold the flats on the back of the shaft with a wrench also do not attempt to use any kind of impact tool. I do not know enough about this to tell you how to do it but I know you need to be careful. There are people on the forum who do. Try reasearching threads by Jim G Adn others who appear on that thread. Hope this helps Good luck!

Hold the pulley with a good strap wrench to remove the bolt. I used a rubber strap wrench but leather is better, less give. You need get a pulley puller(gear puller) . Three pronged is best to apply even pressure. Take the new pulley to the tool store with you to size it. The one i got was pretty adjustable for different size pulleys. I got a good one at auto zone, about 23 bucks. You will need the strap wrench again to hold the new pulley as you tighten the nut as it pushes the new pulley on. Make sure it is on all the way. WATCH out that you dont lose the key from the keyway as you remove the old pulley!
Most of these tips come from our supercharger guru and dealer Joe Delano.

ZHOTROD, Joe(2005SSR6Speed) has been an invaluable help to me and other members on numerous occassions, definately is the man to contact. Like I said earlier, I was just passing on the help he provided me on my pulley change.
