Angry Adware.Badaz

Tonight Norton blocked, not 1, but 10 attempts to corrupt by Adware.Badaz and Gee, guess what site I was on? I was searching old threads and the Gallery and I was not signed in.

So what's up w/ this Mr. DASCROW??? Each page is taking nearly 30 seconds to load. Nice updates! The new & improved version is so much better

Sometimes I can't even bring up this site, it times out and sits there and I have Comcast Broadband 100MBPS Internet Service. I deleted all my computer data files and cleaned up my hardrive thinking it was MY computer problem..... Now it only takes 30Sec. or so like a dial-up service. Not fun going from screen to screen anymore.

Help!

Good Morning....All!

I guess I thought it was just my laptop that was slow! Have gone through and done all of the maintenance on it but this site seems to be slow as of late, compared to other areas.

The other issue I have is that frequently when I have been on the site and logged in and then leave for awhile I find that I have to log in again. At other times I can shut my computer down...restarting it later and not have to log in?????

I didn't have these problems when I first joined this forum.

Anyway, just thought I'd "chime in" with my experiences with this site.

I'm with you on this one, Mike!

Ever since the "New and Improved" . . . this site has been running much slower and last night it was almost going backwards.

I sure hope the experts don't "improve" it again any time soon!

And the pin map is gone. It only shows the name and address of the fanantic, no map of the state (or country)

But that was maintained by an individual member, not the Forum owners. Maybe his server crashed orsomething. The new owners are having, and creating, enough problems on their own without having to answer for those that are not their responsibility.

Understood. Thanks. Still weird. Why after years of pin map does it malfunction? At least we can still post! It is better right now. Dinner time ET.

I'm sorry but don't we pay dues here to keep the board up and running? Why do we need all this extra junk again?

Great question, Focks!

Unfortunately, I have a feeling the answer is nothing other than . . . THE GOD ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!

If you use a program to block particular web page items, I use Firefox, you can stop ads, trackers, etc from loading onto your computer. I have about 6 things on this forum blocked and can even visit without signing in if I want and can cruise around without nagging junk.

I also use Firefox both at work and at home. I've had no problems with adware since switching browsers.

Another member that has had problems with the site being slow. Yesterday we had some high winds and at work we use a sat dish to access the net and I thought the dish was messed up. Then last night at home, on broadband, it was just as slow.

Maybe this site needs some 4.11 or 4.56 gears installed and get away from the 3.73.
