How To Attach Photos
I have had a number of newSupporting Members wanting to know the correct steps to follow to be able to post a photo into one of their new threads or just into their replies. So I will try to explain to you one of the easiest and fastest methods in "how to" add a image/photo, by showing you how to use the "Attachment" feature.
Below is one method of posting photos onto our site. This method is just for our "Supporting Members" ONLY. Our other great "regular" members must use a host web site to link their images into their threads.
Uploading Your Photos:
Step One:
While you are creating your new thread/ reply you must scroll down to the Additional Options located below in your reply area window (only Supporting Members have this feature).
You will see a "Manage Attachments" button where you must click onto it and then go to the step #2.

STEP #2 Locating your photo
STEP #2:
A new pop up window has now appeared. Locate the "Browse" button in the new window and click onto it.
STEP #3, 4:
Another window will pop open and you will now have to locate where your photo is. *Usually it will default to your "My Pictures" folder on your computer.
Now you have to find your photo/image that you want to upload. Once you have found it Step #3 just click onto that image and then proceed to the "Open" button area Step #4 and then click on it where it will then automatically load it into your first browser window.
SIZE Limits:
*Use a .jpg file and you will get the max size allowable [976.6 - 2500 x 2500].
You will see in bottom of the attached photos the max. sizes for majority of the image file types that you can upload. If your file is too large in size, when you try to upload it, it will give you an "upload size" error message when it fails to upload. You will then have to go back and resize your image to be below 2500x2500. (I usually use 1200 x 1200 or less) and make sure the file size no larger than *976 KB. *Size of your uploaded files will vary depending on your choice of formats; i.e. (gif, bmp vs. jpg) etc.

Uploading Your Photos
Step #5:
Once you have selected your photo and opened into the browser window it will now show the photos location and name where it is located on your computer. It will appear into the 1st location of the "Browse" window area.
*You can repeat Steps 2-4 up to 5 times. Once you are done with all your photo(s) you will need to hit the Upload button first image see the red #5 to upload all your photo(s) you have selected.
Note:
You can upload up to 5 images total into one reply by using the other unused browser window photo locaters. *See 2nd attachment with blue arrow.

Your photos are now ready for your review and posting!
You first must "wait" for all your photos to be cleared for file size during the upload process. (This process will take a little time - depending on your connection speeds)
Steps #6:
Once your photo(s) have succeeded uploading you have to go to "close out this window" button located in the upper right hand corner of the window. *If any of your photos do not make it through the uploading then please check for the reason why... usually they are too large in size and get denied. If denied you must resize your photo(s) before you try to up load them again.
Step #7:
Once your photos have been sucessfully attached you can now proceed to "Preview Post" feature or you can just submit your new thread or reply into the forum.
Congratulations you now have successfully uploaded your image(s)
Now you tell me!! I had go through trial and error (mostly error) to figure it out. Just this past week! But thanks for the info for the others like me.

One members upload problems!
Here is an example of one member's issues with attaching his photos. He was trying to up-load photos that were too large in size for the format (.bmp) that they were in.
His troubles started right after he had successfully uploaded his first jpg image. Even though his jpg image was over 200 KB it was still well within the allowable limit of 976 KB. Since the other photos were in bitmap format he wasn't able to upload them because he exceeded the allowable max. size of 200.2 KB. He understandably became VERY frustrated .... and all because they would not upload.
He wasn't sure why the one was a jpg while the others were bitmaps. FYI: It is very important that you know the kind of file you are using so you don't get frustrated over our site's size limits. It is much easier to use jpgs for uploading because of the higher allowable file sizes that it offers.

Here is a short example or quickie lesson on resizing your photos.
FTI: You can use any photo-shop editing program but for my illustrations I will be using Adobe Photoshop Elements version 4.0.
The first step is to open up your image/photo into your photoshop program.
Find the menu/ area where the resize option is located.
Scroll down to the resize tab and select Image Size.
You can see in this example the original image size was 2560 in pixels (60 over max jpg limit)
You need to type in a max number size no larger than 1500 pixels for all files that are not jpg. *I recommend 1500 pixels sizes or even smaller sizes for easier site viewing. I normally use between (800 - 1200) Pixels size image(s).

Resize images ....
Cont.
First photo shows the image that has now been re-sized down to 1500 Pixels.
2nd photo shows me saving the renamed file onto my computer.
3rd photo shows while you are saving the file you how you can make the file size (KB) even smaller by using a slider-bar feature by dragging it to the left which then reduces the file KB size... i.e. 254.12 KB to 170.61 KB The image will remain the same pixel size but the actual image quality "may" start to deteriorate if you reduce the KB size too much. * You can play with that feature to bring your file sizes down closest to 200 KB which is our site's max file size to be able to be uploaded.
4th image you can see how the slider bar was moved slighty to reduce that image down to 170.61 KB.
5th photo shows you the max. file sizes you can up load with the image type that you are wanting to upload.

Downsizing photo file sizes so they can be uploaded
More examples of saving files, this jpg. is a larger file size @ 2560 KB which I must reduce it to no larger than 976.6 KB in order for the file to be uploaded.
1st photo shows me trying to save a file that is too large for the forum (over 976.6 KB).
Next photo shows me pulling the slider-bar and moving it leftward to reduce the file size downward to approx. 705 KB. (which is way under the max file size allowable 976.6 KB)
Notice the blue arrow under the "Quality" number was at 12.
After sliding the bar leftward and reducing the file size (KB) you can see that the image "Quality" number has also been reduced slightly from 12 to 9. Which now means the photo's image is not as high quality as the original was previously. However it really doesn't affect the image's overall quality all that much (for display on the forum).
