I've noticed several old threads coming to life again and again by folks looking for parts and SSR's to buy that have been sold. I would guess this is due to new members and visitors seeking them and not familiar with the search feature.
I propose that the Moderators, when notified of one of these threads, contact the originator of the thread and ask to close the thread. If, in a reasonable amount of time, say 15-30 days, there is no response, to go ahead and close the thread.

Opinions?
I agree with Doug. I have been noticing this a lot lately.

Another site I use has a policy that only the OP can post on "for sale" forums, except for the rare question. No opinions, no back and forth babble, and no nothing else. The OP bumps it to the top, adds info, lowers price, and announces items "sold". Most inquiries and offers are via PM.
I agree something needs to be done. But the problem I see is which Moderators do we go to.
I don't know if our current Moderators have specific assignments or area of responsibilities but if not, I think they should have something down in stone. Otherwise, if going to be more confusing trying to keep a handle on any activities posted in the “SSR for Sale Sections”.
Thinking out loud here… we need to remember that our Moderators are volunteering their free time so we kinda need to be careful what we ask for.

Yep... talked about it a couple of months ago.... and we decided to leave the threads open... One reason... when someone brings up a old thread & asked "Is this still available?"... it starts up a conversation that may lead somewhere. For instance the new shirts "Hawaiian style" started that way... or turnheadz making the leather checkbook cover.
There is no real harm in leaving the threads open. It should be the responsibility of a seller to post "sold" but at this time closing a thread is seen as closing the possibility of future discussion.

Good point, but I think some rules like mentioned by BBO might me worthy of a Sticky on the "SSR For Sale" Forum, or at least a discussion of same.

I did close some threads....not because I was looking for them, just because they popped up and seemed reasonable to close.

Yes it is more work
I just realized today that there are still threads in the "Articles to Review" that should have been moved a YEAR ago. I will try to get to them sometime this week...
