Need help with subscription rip off problem.

I need some assistance here with my subscription to this site. On 10/27/10 I renewed my one year subscription thru paypal for $25.00. On 10/30/10 I was billed another $25.00 for a subscription by Autoforum.com. I disputed the second charge and Paypal found in my favor. Now Autoforum refunds the $25.00 and cancells my subscription. Problem is I still paid $25.00 for the original renewal in the first place and now I have no current subscription. I can't get anyone on the phone to help. Does anyone have a better contact number for them? I have filed a second claim with Paypal but this is ridiculous.

Not an anwser to any emails or phone calls. Funny how all day my status was senior member and now miraculously I am back to Premium member. Still have not received the initial $25.00 credit yet though.

Don't take it personally, Dave . . . there have been a number of posts on this subject over the years.

Isn't it amazing how DISPUTE PAYMENT gets an immediate response while friendly e-mails seem to go ignored?

Similar problem

I had a similar problem when I changed to a lifetime subscription. I signed up before my subscription was up and then when my original subscription came due, it deducted that also. An email to Nadeem finally got it starightened out. It seems the "computer" was programmed to automatically renew the subscription and charge PayPal. My paypal account had an 'automatic renew" feature that I was not aware of (didn't sign up for). Nadeem finally got it starightened out (by email) and all is well now. Good luck, this crap can be VERY frustrating!

Dave as to the PM I sent you yesterday, I have reestablished your Supporting Member status and referred your problem to one of our site's owners Administrators. AF_Don.

With the understanding he might be able to help clear up your problems. Let me know via PM when he is able to help you out.

Refund pending

Well I received a refund, that is pending transfer to my account in 3-4 days. Unfortunately this will probably be my last year as a premium member. Not worth the aggravation to pay to belong here. I am the one who is made to feel like I did something wrong.

Sorry to hear that you are considering packing it in. I had a problem renewing my annual membership a few years ago and solved future problems by becoming a "lifetime" member which I consider a very good investment with all the knowledge gained from the great people here.

.........Just another option for your consideration

Bob

For those who my not know Don "AF_Don" he is one of our site owner's own Administrators who responded back to my PM to him about Dave's issues. Don replied back to Dave "DavesSSR" on 11/04/10 but as of now I have not heard back from Dave.

Below is what Don told Dave which was cc'd to me.

*I hope that our members realize this is a PayPal issue and Auto Forums is trying to get this corrected.

Re: Help with paid subscription issue.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Dave:

I'm not sure if I answered your question by email (It is a common one.), but when I searched for your email address (edit out @aol.com) nothing came up in my Sent items.

First, please be assured that your membership here is intact and runs through to 10-31-2011.

The message you received from eBay resulted from the cancellation of their Auto-renewal function for your membership. Yes, the message is rather confusing. We have tried to get them to change, but with no success.

They make a (rather fine) distinction between our "membership" and their "subscription". When you cancel the auto-renewal of our membership, they consider their "subscription" to be ended.

Hope this helps dispel some of the confusion. If nothing else, please know that your membership is unaffected.

Best regards... Don
