Repair or Replacement Help SSR Chevrolet Hood Badge

During a recent oil change, the Chevrolet trim badge on the tip of my hood fell off as the attendent closed the hood. This badge is attached by three thin plastic ribs that were ultrasonically welded to stand offs so it could be attached to the hood. All three ribs sheered clean.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this failure and how they repaired it? I was thinking some super glue to set the position and then fiberglass for strength. Comments?

Or is there a replacement option for same?

Thanks....

BR/Zeke

A very common issue. When the hood is lifted by holding onto the emblem, it simply breaks off. There are several threads about how to repair and you may find replacements on Ebay. However, this is a design flaw and moving forward, make sure the hood is lifted by the hood edge, not the emblem. Mike at Simple engineering has 'decals' that say where to lift.

I think these are still available through Chevrolet. Contact RSSRTOY or BYERS, our local parts guys. I also know there are several posts in a few threads regarding repair suggestions. I am sure others can find them even though I can't right now. Keep watching this thread as I am sure somone will post a link.

Exclamation Use the Search feature to find a lot of info

I went to hardware store and got some mesh tape. Its fiberglass and about 3'' wide, embedded it with 2 part epoxy to the back of the crappy part. Special attention at the contact points.
Also applied Mike in Az decal.
I have 2 spare hood emblems in case of blind mechanics. I always point it out to tech writer when visiting Shop trying to avoid BS.

Lost to some freeway debris that bounced off my front end and another at a automated carwash. Sounds like these badges are getting even more fragile as they get older. Some "B Weld sounds like the easiest fix.
