Spell Checker

I really do not want to nit pic but I think it would help all of us to have a spell checker, like the one in Word, to help with our spelling.

Is this a possible thing in the future?

Troy,
That would be nice, my spelling sucks, so I cut & paste into & out of word; that's getting real old.

Here is a simple solution. Go to http://www.iespell.com/ and get yourself a free spell checker. It will install in your toolbar of INTERNET explorer and works great for all your IE applications. As much as I hate Bill gates, but IE is much better than any other browser. You should use it instead of AOL or Netscape.

For other cool freeware I usually go to http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/freeware.html

Hope this helps.

I haven't found anything that works with our software yet. I could definitely use it myself.

Troy, here is a forum I know that uses a spell check for their posts. i don't know if it is compatible.

http://www.dslreports.com/forums/all

The IE spell works great though. It will work for everything else in an IE window too not just this site

Thanks for the GREAT suggestion, but will it work for me since I am using AOL (and their browzer) or is there someway I can use the INTERNET explorer running under AOL? Of course noone at AOL has ever said anything about another browzer.
Thanks a lot for the help.

It looks like there are a couple of spell check modules that I may be able to plugin to the software. I'm looking into it.

I found that iespell does not integrate with the Avant browser. Avant is an excellent browser that works fast like IE (it uses IE's basics) but has more stuff built in, like the google search and pop-up blocker.

Thanks again Troy, you run the best site I have ever worked with! Keep up the good work and I will contribute the annual fee when you can accept Master Card.

to use IE with AOL, connect to AOL, minimize the AOL window, then fire up IE. It still amazes me how many people pay so much money for AOL dial-up. Do yourself a favor, dump AOL, get a dial-up in your area for around $10 a month, get yourself a free yahoo email account, and you'll be wondering why you ever signed up with that sh!t to begin with. Better yet get a DSL account for $25 and you'll never go back to dial-up. I'm willing to help anyone wanting to quit AOL.

Cool I thought I was wrong...

...but I was mistaken.

My post above about IeSpell and the Avant browser is incorrect. IeSpell works with Avant, but it does not add the entry to the Tools menu. You just have to right click what you are typing and then click on Check Spelling.

Very Cool. Thanks redssrloaded.

P.S. HAHAHA. I did a spell check on what I had typed above. It suggested redissolved, retreaded and redecorated as replacements for redssrloaded.

Thank you so very much for the help with my using AOL with IE! You see the reason I am using AOL is it came with my computer for FREE for one year. Can't better that price!

nomadkenn, free isn't always good. In this case, FREE AOL is the worst thing you can do to your computer IMHO. The are full of advertising and other sh!t I hate. Think of your Internet access as a water hose. If the only thing coming through the hose was water, you'd be fine. But if someone tries to send a smaller hose inside of the original hose that would carry sewage, you'd get less water. That's what AOL does. They waste most of the bandwidth sending you crap they want you to see.

You can find everything you get from AOL , better and faster on the Internet. You name it and I will point you to it. The sooner you cancel (which in turn is a big project itself, get ready to speak to India and be forced to waste another 10 minutes), the better you are.

I would go to Yahoo.com and type in yahoo dsl. they are offering 26.95 for a DSL connection that is 10-20 times faster than a dial up.

Not anymore, I can block just about anything including spam and pop-ups. Since I am retired speed is not a problem.

Friend of mine tried to cancel AOL - finally had to cancel his bank account - not just his credit card - his bank account!!!!

I just noticed the tivo community forum uses Vbulletin. That forum has a spellcheck button right next to the Submit and Preview buttions. Maybe the webmaster there has a tip.
