Signature #12 – Pedigree Theme: “Gibson Guitar SSR”

Chevrolet teamed up with the legendary Gibson Guitar Corporation to create a unique pedigree for this Signature Series SSR. The vehicle was used as a model to create a one-of-a-kind Givson SSR guitar by the Gibson Custom Art & Historic Division based in Nashville, Tennessee. The shape of the hood was cut into the guitar body, complete with a miniature version of the full size truck’s hood emblem. It was unveiled at a Gibson facility in Nashville on July 17, 2003 and played by Les Paul, Duane Eddy and Kenny Olson, guitarist for Kid Rock. The exclusive guitar, along with photographs and memorabilia from the event, was reportedly included with this vehicle's Signature Series scrapbook.

Signature Series SSR #12 and the Gibson guitar were part of the Chevy Rock and Roll Tour in 2003. They were featured as part of a concert series during The Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race at Richmond International Raceway, September 4 – 6, 2003.

Urban Legend of The Gibson Guitar

One common misconception about the Signature Series SSRs is that each came with a Gibson guitar. Only Signature #12 had a custom Gibson guitar produced for it (complete with matching VIN). While some copies of the guitar have been produced by public admirers, the one and only guitar accompanied #12 when it was sold at auction, and remains with the truck today.
