Signature #3 – Pedigree Theme: “Chevy Racing SSR”

During the Spring and Summer of 2003, this SSR serves as an evaluation vehicle to people associated with Chevrolet Racing. It is the only one of the first Signature Series SSR vehicles to be seen in the public when it went on display at the 2003 Daytona 500, and it played a prominent role during the media events and race day activities at the 2003 Indianapolis 500. Driven by Tom Wallace, (then) GM Vehicle Line Executive for small and mid-size trucks and one of this SSR’s singnatories, this SSR led a pre-race parade lap just prior to the start of the 2003 Indy 500.

Many of the race team members and other racing people who had the opportunity to drive and evaluate this SSR wrote comments in and signed the driver’s logbook. Among the people who drove this SSR are:

• Richard Childress – Owner, Richard Childress Racing (NASCAR)
• Kelly Collins – Driver, Corvette Racing C5-R (ALMS)
• Ron Fellows – Driver, Corvette Racing C5-R (ALMS); 2002 GTS Class Champion
• Oliver Gavin – Driver, Corvette Racing C5-R (ALMS)
• Tony George – President and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indy Racing League (IRL)
• Joe Gibbs – Owner, Joe Gibbs Racing (NASCAR)
• Sarah Fisher – Driver, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (IRL)
• Ron Hemelgarn – Owner, Hemelgarn Racing (IRL)
• Rick Hendrick – Owner, Hendrick Motorsports (NASCAR)
• Sam Hornish, Jr. – Driver, Penzoil Panther Racing (IRL); 2001 and 2002 IRL Champion
• Johnny O’Connell – Driver Corvette Racing C5-R (ALMS)
• Andy Pilgrim – Driver, Corvette Racing C5-R (ALMS)

In addition to the driver’s logbook, momentos that are part of SSR #3’s pedigree include autographed caps, team posters, die cast models and photographs
