Unsolicited Testimonial regarding buying experience at North Freeway Hyundai in Houston, TX:
I did tons of research online (ask my wife) and visited a half dozen dealerships looking at '05/'06 SSRs to purchase. I also purchased and read Jim G's book. I visited NF Hyundai twice in the last month and, in the end, they had the best selection and quality of SSR's to choose from.
After having my heart set on an '05 6 speed and negotiating a fair price, we boarded the dog and the kids (just kidding), rented a car and headed to Houston from McKinney (north of Dallas). We arrived Friday night in the rain and test drove the '05 6 speed, however it just didn't feel right. My wife said Automayic or nothing and I had to agree. I guess I'm getting old or something.
My wife and I regrouped at the hotel that night and thoroughly researched the available '05/'06's there. (11 as of 7/3/10) We narrowed it to five and drove them all Saturday morning. In the end, we chose the '05 Indy 500 Parade SSR #16. (yes, its been discussed in the forum)
Paul Peebles and Chris Taylor were great to work with and really have a passion for SSR's. As one who loathes the dealership car-buying experience, our treatment here was a pleasant surprise. We felt like we were dealing with people who genuinely wanted to make sure we were happy. We believe we paid a fair price and left Saturday afternoon feeling good about the purchase and the experience.
I did tell Chris, before we arrived, that I would comment on the SSR Fanatic Forum about the SSR Buying Experience, good or bad. We were slightly skeptical and fully prepared to drive the rental car back to McKinney, if we didn't feel right about the process.
In the end, we are very happy and look forward to many years of fun with our SSR and hope to meet many new friends here.
Sadly, we drove back to McKinney in 4 hours of driving rain with the top up.
Welcome from Richardson, TX. Give a shout and we'll meet for coffee one day. Friday and Saturday weren't great for Top Down Rides but today's been a good one. Also, since you came back yesterday, yup, you tested all the water tight seals on the new 05, real hard!

Coffee sounds great. Live in McKinney and work in Dallas so I drive through Richardson every day. Sending PM.
Saturday was great! We watched fireworks with the top down.

I'm rather in agreement with Black Beauty who, although limited in posts, has been around for 18 months.
I love the fact that Dave has provided a product for the SSR but throwing it into old threads is somewhat akin to spam IMO.
Good spam mind you, as compared to Nike shoe spam!
