Thumbs up New Nitto Invo

Just upgraded my with the Nitto INVO, 255/40ZR19 up front, 315/35ZR20 out back, after 17500 miles on the GY. What a difference -and viewing from the back, there is a lota meat on them wheels! The GY had the typical wear of inside fronts, and center rears. The left front was toed in pretty bad. Now with a non performance alignment, hope to get great mileage out of these Nitto's. I had Nitto's on my 2000 SVT Lightning and loved them. I checked the speedo against GPS and seems to be right on at least up to 60MPH.
Took the R on a short run keeping up with morning traffic on I40 and smooth straight ride up to 85. Think I'm really going to enjoy these tires.

I put NITRO INVOs on my 05 this week tire pressure 35 lbs. Today drove just over 200 miles, speed up to 100 mph. the ride was smooth, tracks well, both straight and curves, The tires are a little pricey but worth it for performance and comfort. Zane

I replaced the stock tires with the Invo's and can't believe how much the ride and handling improved. Money well spent.

Ditto.........Got mine on Monday and lovin' them. Nice aggressive looking tread and handles great and quiet. Running 35# all around as others suggested running the same tires. $1,200.00 out the door at Discount Tire in Central Florida.

Road Trip??????? Ron

Thumbs up

First try in rain slick roads, and these INVO's really sticky. Felt like I was riding a mountain goat, never slipped unless I did it intentionaly. Have only about 400 miles on them, so true test will come later when more miles are logged.

New Nitto Invo

Have Nitto's on my "R" and drove to Maggie Valley and this weekend to Lake Seneca thru the rain. Car held the road with no problems and I love the way it handles..

I have an o5 with 27k and I'm doing the research for tires and see the Nitto Invos quoted a lot. Did you give thought to changing shocks as well? I cross rotated the tires to get a little more use out of them and started my research on replacements. I'm giving thought to Bilstein shocks as well. Any feedback?

For comparison, Have you look at the cost of Vredestein tires?

I seriously considered the Continental DSW as they had great reviews, but Continental's history, in general, indicated hard to keep the vibration out of them when they accumulated some miles on them. My own experience with the NITTOs made my decision.

Over the years I have run on Michelin tires after the GY's would wear out on the past 3 Corvettes I have had. I got ~60,000 off the PS2 on my 04 without any trouble. Last week I was in Grenville, SC to a Michelin function and spoke with a couple of tire engineers and followed up today with my local Discount Tire tec here in Charlotte, NC. I ordered Michelin Latitude Tour HP F/ 255/ 50 19 R/ 275/ 45 20. They both have a 440 AAV rating with a 55K mile warranty F and 45K mile warranty R. I'm still dickering with the final out the door price...but I think I can get them down between $1250 and $1300.

6sp Tweety Bird...I responded back to Run Rod Run that I placed an order today for Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires for my SSR. I'm still trying to figure out whether to replace the shocks with Bilstein shocks or not. I'm going to keep my SSR for years to come. I have driven Corvettes for the past 15 years and I'm very happy with the SSR. Do you know of anyone that has changed out the OEM shocks for Bilstein shocks?

I did...recently. Ride is better, firmer but less vibration at higher speeds like the oem shocks. glad I did it and when the toyos need changing, the nittos are high on the list.

Know anywhere you can go to do some drifting?

That should help with the wear on the toyos.

In my discussion with the Discount Tire Tec I shared with him that I drive the SSR every day for business. He did say the Nitto Invos were much stickier with a rating of 220AAZ. I ordered the Bilsten shocks today as well and I think the overall handling characteristics of my SSR is going to improve a lot. I drive between Charlotte and Atlanta often and that is where I notice the handling quirks...drifting...tire chatter etc. I will give you feed back on the Michelin / Bilstein match up in a couple of weeks when the tires come in and I take another road trip. Thanks for your help!

Just ordered the nittos today 255/40zr-19 and 315/35zr20,I was a little worried about the rear tire size but all the great information on this site made the choice real easy. Thank- you for all the information and what a great site for ssr owners.

Is anybody running the Nittos with the rear end lowered? I'm wondering if they'd still fit OK. I lowered the rear only about 2".

I have the Nittos and truck is lowered 2" in the rear and 1.5" in the front. Drives great and there is no comparison between the Nittos and stock goodyears.

Lowering isn't a problem.

You'd only have an issue with more offset on aftermarket wheels.

Count me in as a Nitto convert. I just ordered mine from Discount Tire. They ran $1250 OTD. I'm looking forward to getting them installed in three days. I picked up a nail in my 06 R this weekend. While trying to get the truck to the gas station to assess the tire, the inner sidewall got chewed up. So, a new tire set for me..... Depending on how this set drives, I may order some or my 05 R. I really wanted the Michelins, but couldn't bring myself to fork over $2000 for some rubber (quality rubber, but still rubber).

Next question....Should I go with the Nitrogen? Is it worth the extra money? Any major benefits?

Some do, some don't, I don't think it's worth the trouble and expense.

Okay. After a few weeks on the Nittos I'm wondering..."what took me so long to buy these tires?" These things are great. On dry pavement they are quiet and responsive. On wet pavement they are smooth and sure footed. If any of you are on the fence about buying the Nitto Invos let me suggest that you pull the trigger and do it. You won't be disappointed.

Nittos will be slightly under the rolling diameter of the Goodyears, so slightly lower the vehicle. Fronts are 1/2" smaller than the Goodyears, therefore increase the rake angle, which looks even better. Toyos will be somewhat larger diameter.

I've never heard a complaint about the Nittos. They get great mileage considering they are soft and sticky. I'm not aware of any problems with the Toyos, but know of a couple of Fanatics who weren't happy with the farm truck look they got with the oversize tires.

I know of one who is doing his best to wear them out so he can get some Nittos.
