I saw your post about removing the upper front strut bolts from below without removing the fuse box. Any words of wisdom before I tackle the project on my SSR? Sounds like you used a flex head gear wrench. I thought that they were fixed studs with nuts on the top. ??

The struts and the springs are an assembly that can be removed as a unit without a spring compressor. Once this assemply is out of the vehicle a spring compressor is required to seperate the assembly and and to reinstall the springs on the struts. The assembly can then be reinstalled on the vehicle without the compressor. I did not replace any bushings when I did the struts but the A arm bushings and the ball joints would be much easier with the struts out.

    Hello ww50th,

I was strolling through the posts associated with changing out the front struts and came across your post and had a few questions if you would be so kind to answer for me.
Did you have to use a spring compressor to get the strut out and back in? I think I read someone's post stating they didn't need to use one.
Also, did you change out any worn bushings while you were in there or do you know if any needed to be changed would it be easier to change them out with the strut removed?

    Thanks for your time.

    Dave aka "Guzzi Guy"
