New to SSR Fanatic

I have had a 2006 SSR FPR for about a year. I’ve heard stories on final run but wanted to know more, how many, why? Thx!

Here is a link to the numbers, but basically the last 826 trucks built got the FPR badge. They were the ones actually built in 2006. there were MY2006 trucks built in 2005 which did not get the badge because they were not built in the Final Production Run.
Welcome to the family. You will find that you can learn a lot about these fun trucks by reading and or asking questions but you will find the best way to learn is to attend events and talk with those that have had them and worked on them.

Meanwhile, let us know a bit about yourself. We are nosey, but friendly.

Outside of bragging rights, and they may be worth a little more to some folks, they are all the same mechanical wise. After all, if you think about it, they are all final production because they don't make any more.

Yeah, they are the same as the other '06s except the badge and there were some unique paint options available.
When you come down to it all 4 years look pretty much the same coming down the street, so in order for some people to establish a pecking order you have to dig out little bitty differences, and how many of the very few options the truck has.

A bit more on the FPR's
I see stories that state the SSR was discontinued due to lack of sales which is not true (IMO)
GM had plans with changes for MY2007 including an orange "Sunrise Edition"

Everything changed when GM filed Chapter 11 on November 5, 2005.
Part of this process included closing 8 plants, and the LCC was one of the first to go as it was a small "specialty" plant.

GM continued to build the SSR through 12.23.2005 before shutting down for Christmas.
During the Christmas break they took stock of the parts they had in the system to determine how many SSR's could be built with what they had.
January 15, 2006 a letter was issued to dealers (for orders) stating there would build another 826 SSR's and the final production day would be March 17 2006.
Every time I think of this I am amazed at how accurate they could be, especially with the final production day.

The LCC was re-opened Feb 14 2006 to commence building the final 826 SSR's - the 826 Final Production Runs
The FPR is one of those intangible RPO's, but they are sought after

Welcome aboard from the ‘Sooner’ state of Oklahoma. Hope you will find the forum to be interesting and informative. We also are having a big rally coming up in Branson, MO in October, which should be a ‘blast’. Hope you will try to attend.

Thanks for the succinct update. I never knew the issues surrounding the demise of the SSR.
