New User from Germany

Hi there!
Just fall in love a couple of weeks ago with an SSR standing around at a dealer near my home town.....
Saw it, bought it!

My first contact with an SSR was during a websearch for other pickups on the net aprox. 10 month ago. Since driving a pickup and a convertible at this time I thought what I great idea! Two cars in one!

I printed a picture from an SSR i liked and hung it up at my working desk..... and a view weeks ago I stumpled over my car!
Thank you universum!

Since there not many SSR in Germany, I need a lot of information..... guess the right place is here!

Greetings from Germany

Ingo

Welcome from Southeast Texas!
Tell us more about your SSR.
Germany looks like a great country to enjoy what the SSR has to offer. If you are able, you should attend a rally here in the "States" and experience the pleasure of seeing a multitude of truly beautiful SSR's. Lots of information and new friends.
Enjoy your new ride!

Cool Welcome from LA.

Welcome. You asked for info on the R and you have come to the right place. There is a New Owner / Newbie list of recommendations / upgrades, that you absolutely need to get. ( Does anyone have a updated copy they can share with this new owner? ) Get to know all you can about your R. The more you know the better your ownership experience will be.

"Long may you run with your R shinning in the sun"

NOTE: Isn't there a group of German / European owners who are members of the forum?

Hi there, thanks for the great wellcome!

My SSR is yellow with blue flames.... haven't found an option to upload a picture? Oh ok now I see.... you can't upload you need to use a webhost.
I have an issue with getting the car on road since the laws here are very strict, so I try to find information on the headlights. They are not road legal over here so I need to find out what other owners in Germany had done to get them approved!?

All the other modifikations are done.

Tomorrow I will go to an little meeting with european Pickups during weekend. When I'm back home next week I will post some pictures and than hopefully have time to read all the information here.

I like "PERMAGRIN" !

Hi Ingo

You might be surprised at the number of SSR's in Germany - I have record of about 60, and I am sure there must be a lot I am unaware of.

You could try this site for local information

MAXXTECH® Performance - SSR Register (deutsch)

You probably can't send PM's yet, but would you mind emailing me the last 5 digits of you VIN so I can record it's location?

SSR Fanatic "Bagger" exported his 2006 to Germany when he was stationed there, and has now returned it to the US. You could try sending him a private message to see if he responds with an answer to your headlight dilemma.

Welcome to the family Ingo, your are obviously an intelligent person, because buying the coolest truck ever, and locating the best place for help/information, can't be all luck.

Yes, read and read some more, the more familiar you are with site the easier it gets to navigate it. Before I became a paying member it drove me nuts but after signing up a lot of clutter went away.

I'd suggest you contact Dinerman for the deal of the century on manuals.

Also bookmark this site for a lot of illustrated repair instructions put together by Dicktater.

Hello Ingo welcome to the Fanatics from Germany / Munich.
Registering here was the best thing you could do.
I wish you much fun with your new SSR.
You meet nice helpful people here.
Here you can learn a lot about your SSR.
Where in Germany you are at home ?
Your headlights are with one exception approval to be legalized.
We may like to exchange ideas via PM.

best regards Roman

Hello Ingo. Now I wish I was still over there with my blue SSR. I lived in the same region in Oberarnbach. I moved back to the states in 2015.

Whats wrong with your headlights? I never had any issues during initial or annual inspections. I took my vehicle to Kapaun Air Station at Vogelweh where German mechanics inspected it. I was there under a SOFA agreement, maybe inspection requirements were different? Why aren't they road legal?

Hi there,

now back from weekend, drove nearly 1000km this weekend with "Permagrin"

Anyway...

@Cash
thanks for the links, found the page earlier but didn't see the list with the fins! ;-)

@HUAW
Guess for upload picture I have not enaught posts....or is limited to premium members. can't find it and didn't find a answer in faq.

@xoxoxoBruce
Very helpfull links thank you, ordered the drives!

@Ruckzuck
Thanks wrote you a PM

@Bagger
Yes, the area around K-Town is great, love it. For first approval of the headlights you need either an E-Number (European approval sign) or you have to pass a very expensiv test of the headlights.

One more thing...take your SSR to Brazzeltag at Sinsheim Technik Museum next year. I got to do a few laps around the course they set up and parked under the big boat. I was a rock star for a day...along with the truck. LoL
