For Sale: SSR Windsield with SSR Code

**** SOLD - 6/5/19 ****

I have a SSR windshield with the SSR code.

It is in excellent condition except for some minor scratches that make it difficult to see when driving into the sun. It's located in Riverview, FL near Tampa so there're not many roads that go west.

It's offered for $300, local pickup only in Riverview.

Replacements windshields do not have the SSR embedded in the glass.

It can be made new again by a professional Glass Scratch Removal Shop. I just had my '06 Ford P/Up done and the windshield looks like new. Cost $125.00.

Especially in Florida, there are rock (dump) trucks everywhere that love spilling their cargo on the roadway and cracking windshields. A spare windshield could save you a lot of grief if you ever crack yours. IMO.

That's a great idea. And not very expensive, as windshields go.

I can't transport it from Florida to Maryland; it's a little too long for the SSR's bed.

So it's still available.

Yes indeed. There are serious, but minor things that can happen to the original windshield that can only be fixed by replacing it.

If keeping your SSR as original and "numbers matching" as possible, then having a SSR-labeled windshield in the "parts bin" would be a good idea.

Ya know, things happen beyond one's control. Be prepared.

Those Dump Trucks are not just in Florida, Wife and I started out on a trip to Louisiana from Houston, entered the Beltway only 10 miles from home and BAM! Dump Truck passed Me and slung a rock, luckily it hit up High on the Drivers side. Hurried too one of those windshield repair kiosks and they stopped the crack before it traveled too far. You just never know when ..

I recommend purchasing a Permatex windshield repair kit for approx $10 to have in you R for when you take a rock hit. Below is a link to a YouTube on making the repair with the kit.

My insurance company sent me to a local glass shop and had them do the vacuum-dry/epoxy repair for free. Saves them a lot of money and it was low center where it wouldn't bother me.
Auggie Doggie likes this.

Often wrong...... but never in doubt.

For those with more serious windshield problems requiring a replacement and want to maintain the originality with the SSR code, it's still available.

Hang in there, someone will pick it up. It's good buy, I am on windshield # 3.

If I were closer, it would be in my "stash".

Wish you were on the west coast, I'd grab it in a heartbeat. Ours has a rock chip that's just about eye-level on the driver's side. It's been professionally repaired and I'm kind of used to it, but it's still annoying. There are a few other tiny rock chips as well so when the sun's just right they're very apparent.

From what I've read, getting a brand new windshield for our Rs is dicey at best with some not fitting quite right. And I understand that there are only two companies selling them? Not to mention that they're über expensive with the built-in antenna and all.

We have full glass coverage with our insurance company, but I'm really hesitant to turn anything in. I've had bad windshield replacements and they can be a real pain to deal with. Guess I'll live with ours for the time being.

Anyway, if you're ever headed our way throw it in the overhead bin... we'll take it!

Cheers,

Rich
