SS-SSR,. a boatload of fun heading to Vermont
Cranberry bog
Too much grog
There are a lot of active members around,..
Your poke will bring a few out of hiding.
Its spring and the Northeast group is just waking up.
It might take them a bit to respond to your call.
Haven't seen or heard much from you on the forum since Watkins Glenn. Would be nice to have something similar to the Escape to the Cape but on a smaller scale (depending on response) had a good time. Hope things are well with you and your enjoying the Pace Car.
A track run on Watkins Glen sure sounds good to me! How about a run up Mt. Washington? Been there once and they have an awesome museum up there! Nice train rides in the area also!

Years ago we attended a VW event right in downtown Woodstock NY. It was the best VW show we ever attended. We toured the Papacton Reservoir (spelling?) which is NYC water supply on the way. The town of Woodstock is very cool.
Dave
HOGS ,.. I have been side tracked with a house project.. 300 hours working on a bathroom,..
Now I don't want to use it.:hyper:
Johnny B ,. Its always good to spend time with you and your lovely wife.
Im sure the event will be unique.:thumbs
XOBRUCE,.. We can always count on you to add spice to a forum. :blush-anim-cl:
Quicksilver,.. support your local shelter,.. but don't adapt 40 cats like my neighbor.
HUAW,.. We have a dedicated Watkins run,. its a great event in itself.
How about the New Hampshire track,.. might be able to incorporate it into a White Mountains NH Run??
Blur'd Vision,.. That's a good idea, Im targeting New England for this run,.
that might be a thought for the Watkins run.( I believe its not far from there?... geography challenged.)
Scott 0168,.. No problem,. we will make sure to make up for lost time.
I will come up with a complete package by July 1st,. this will give everyone a year advance.
Good morning treasured friend ... it's great to hear from you. Jan & I are still so appreciative of you coming to the best SSR International Rally ever and leading the Friday Night Route 66 Mother Road Parade back in 2015 ... in fact we, the SSR's, got the "Best Club Spirit" award presented Annually to a designated group. Nobody can claim that distinction but us !!! 70,000 spectator's lining old city Route 66 and watching 35 or 36 beautiful SSR's roll by "topless" and all color's too. I think there was a total of 1,200 vehicles in the "Cruise In" as the call it. Took us an Hour & a half to go 5 miles.
Bill, this is a great idea and you are a great promoter and a great organizer. Hope you have a great turnout. Watkins Glen Road Course would be much more fun that going around an oval unless ... it was "Bristol Baby" Sure hope Jan & I can make it, but 12 weeks of Chemo for Jan, starting this week for Breast Cancer may limit our future travels right now, but attending the 18th Annual Route 66 Mother Road Festival in September is # 1 on our schedule right now. 2020 will be a great year ... I will be a "young" 80 years old and # 1 Grand Daughter will be graduating from High School next year ??? Please keep everybody posted ... you da' man "Wild Bill" NOW I Strobe. Wishing you the very best. "Lookin' up to watch a bird ... Holding arms to climb a curb" Bob & Jan "Old Friends" :smile2: :smile2: :smile2:
Hello Mr & Mrs Cozy Dog,..
Great to hear from you.
You put on an excellent event out there in Springfield Ill..
It was an honor to lead that parade. Pushed that massive flag rack to its limits but worth it.
We (the 36 SSRs) made for a great parade kick off.
Unfortunately I couldn't make the Texas Nat,. But I will be in Branson.
I am so sorry to hear about Jans treatments. Please keep us informed of her progress,.
You know we all love you guys and pray for the best:grouphug
Just for you,.. I will wait until 2020 to hold this event.
(ok everyone,. don't tell Bob it was set for 2020 anyway,. make Bob & Jan feel special...er)
2020 !!! GOOD !!! Early this morning I thought it was gonna' be this year   :laugh:Why was the 2015 SSR International the best ... cause Jan & I planned it !!! From your point of view the 2013 SSR International was the best because you planned it !!! You, with your Flag Bearing SSR was the best example of American loyalty was something to see. Have a great day.
The wife and I have been talking about a trip to New England. She was born in Mass. but hasn't been back in almost 50 years. This might be a good excuse for a ROAD TRIP!!
A lot has changed in 50 years,.. but there is a lot of History that will never change.
It will be nice to have her back.
What part of Mass is she from?
Maine is a nice ride over on the Kunghumungus highway.. ( not proper spelling or pronunciation)
That is a nice NH ride. May even add that to the list of activities.
Sailing is an awesome Fanatic,. she lives in Maine.
Im sure she is going to check in ..3....2....1...
First, thanks for planning this in advance. Even though many of us are retired, we have a tight schedule and well in advance (like China in September 2020!).
Any reason to get to New England would work for us. Driving up Mt. Washington sounds kind of cool, but we're easily entertained. A big thanks for putting this on.
a year in advance gives a lot of prep time for the coordinator and the attendees.
I put on many events for many organizations.
The best events I put on are for my Fanatic family.
I usually come up with a location and baseline an event before offering it,.
This time Im trying something new,.
let the population decide where they want to go.
It looks like A white mountain event is ahead in the poles.
That is a great area.
Anyone from flat lands will get the full experience of a mountain vacation.

Hey Wild Bill...I am glad to hear its spring in your part of New England...it actually snowed here this a.m. ugh...the state did NOT drop salt on the road so I am still driving the SSR...am excited to hear of another gathering in this part of the world. Terry and I will be there!! Rhodstr05>
You know what they say about people that remember Woodstock?....
They.,.. um ,. Music,.. um ,. purple,. .hair,.. er .. umm.. what were we talking about?:skep
Glad to hear your going!:59:
I enjoyed your company at the last event,..
Sorry Ive been slack last couple years,. had some unexpected events to work thru,.
With a year advance planning,.. looks like you will have 50 SSRs in your neck of he woods.:ssr
So kickin' this back into view. A northern New England fling is a great idea and I Strobe has many many good ideas. I have been collecting thoughts on the subject for about 2 years now as well. There is a lot to do in the mountains and much to do along the coast.
Spitting out ideas here, let us know what you think. We can make this an XL Super Large Event.
Some inland stuff: Mt Washington using either the Auto Road or the Cog Railroad; Kancamagus Highway; North Conway Outlet shopping; waterfalls; etc. etc. etc.
Some coastal stuff: Schooner cruise; Bath Ironworks tour; definitely a lobster bake; LL Bean flagship store, fishing, archery, hunting, watersport retail centers; etc. etc. etc.
Somewhere we could squeeze in a couple lighthouses, some awesome views of and from the White Mountains and even a car show location somewhere in the middle of it all.
What about a XL Surf & Turf week?
A couple days in the mountains, a couple days near the coast. Would you be up for a hotel change? Would you come for just one half or the other? Do you want to come for both and participate in all that is arranged or would you venture out on day trips of your own and meet back for evening comparisons?
We have a bizillion options in northern New England. What is on your list of must do things if you were ever to find yourself here?
Wear feathers and pillage Old Deerfield.
Oh, and the Maine Prison store has some really nice handicrafts made by prisoners, I have a hand carved wood chain from there.
OK, here is a thought, Arrange to meet in Southern New England and drive to a different location every day. Start in Penn. or maybe the Berkshires and hop scotch to little towns as you go North. Arrange in advance a different location to stop each night. End up in Maine, maybe Sailing can arrange something for a finale.
A moving party like that would be a logistics nightmare, worse than the internationals. Everyone would have to be firmly committed and paid in advance because you can have reservations and still get bumped by someone more important like the owners sisters kids or the managers mistress.
At the end, even with all his HOG experience, Bill would have to be committed. :lol
We could capture and BBQ Lenny the 1700 lb solid chocolate Moose.
A logistics nightmare? So you are saying that no one is up for a challenge?
Just because we have never done it doesn't mean it can't be done!!
What happened to the CAN DO SPIRT??
