Alternative to factory Bose speakers ?

Just blew the left side speaker. I went to a local car audio shop and they thought they were gonna replace both sides with Rockford Fosgate. Once they removed the door panels and saw the Bose system they quickly realized they had no suitable substitute. So, he ordered a replacement for the blown Bose. Which is exactly what I was trying to get away from. There's gotta be something better.

I have a complete Bose surround system on my TV and At the time I bought it and had it installed I was told there is no better. The price reflected that also. Just repeating what I was told. If your speakers don't sound good it may be the receiver or the amp or many things. Good luck.

I rarely have my stereo even turned on. Much prefer the sound of the exhaust system.

I enjoy my oldies cranked up and shaking the rear view mirror. More base and loud. So far the stickers are holding up with the Kenwood driving the amp and them.

I've always been amazed at how adequate the factory stereo is. I am usually the type that adds amps, speakers, subwoofers, minidisc changers, in-dash minidisc recorder, etc...but I am satisfied with the stock system, even though Bose is usually bottom-of-the-barrel crap.

It sounds even BETTER when you realize there aren't even any tweeters in the system...those little paper full-range drivers make a satisfying amount of high-end...and they aren't even installed in any sort of enclosure. Hell, they aren't even installed IN the actual door!

I find it is a surprisingly nice sounding system, and it will even drown out my muffler-less true dual exhaust when I want it to.

It even was loud enough to overpower my temporary catalytic converter-less straight pipe exhaust that was as loud as a nuclear explosion with the windows down. That's loud enough for me.

You must be an audiophile also. I've been one nearly all of my adult life and while we rarely agree on anything; the one thing we do all agree on is that "Bose Sux".
I've decided I'm not gonna put too much effort into achieving high-quality sound in a truck that I'm going to have Kooks headers installed next week.
I did find this old link to a previous discussion.

TV must be different or Best Buy gets a kick back from BOSE because in all the after market surround sound systems that is the one they push and it is three times more expensive than any other system. They insist BOSE is the top of the line and further state that is the system all the high end cars use. Bottom line for me is I believe them but it is probably one of those things like wax or detail spray. The one you like or use is the best.

Auggie there is always something better.Best Buy might not be the place to shop for high end audio.

I changed out the factory head unit for a Pioneer because I wanted features the stock radio couldn't supply.

Kept the Bose amp and speakers because they are decent and provide good sound in my SSR top down or up.

Something is wrong with this picture. And I am one. Factory radio, factory exhaust. We change the exhaust to get louder noise. Than we change the sound system to get better music for which we turn up to hear over the loud exhaust. Boy are we spoiled (or confused) or what. Don't you just love it. LOL. Robert

So,I ended up getting both subs replaced. and it's back to normal now. Apparently, they didn't want to do a custom install with an aftermarket brand. I guess I'll have to do it.
