Iím guessing he is still working at getting the total mileage. He probably has to go down to the bar and grill and get with some old friends so he has enough fingers to add everything up.

Free dinner contest cutoff

We have a leader in the clubhouse But to give everyone who hasn't guessed yet a chance , the contest will run till St. Patty's Day . Entries must be posted on this thread by 5 A.M. C.D.T.(the traditional time to start celebrating) March 17th. One guess per Fanatic, must be in miles not that funny foreign units , miles riding in non-SSR's do not count and the decision of the judge will be final! Good Luck!

Contest Results - WE HAVE A WINNER!

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for the long absence, been busy and am just now recovering from the depression of having our taxes done. So here we go!
In between rain showers,(with thanks to Johnny Carson) I went by the Funk & Wagnels Porch - looked in the Mayonnaise Jar and here are the entries and results:
Micdonna- Mic- 5110 Donna- 5250
Swt Ryd- 4878
CruDawg- 10 - revised to- 4950
Firetruck- 4800
FlyingDog- 3763
AuggieDoggie- 4970
JerseyRed- 3250 - revised to -6400
RunFaster- 5422
AutoProf- 3959
06-SSR- 5928

After consulting The Great and Powerful GARMIN -- The actual mileage was 4681.2
THE CLOSEST TO THE ACTUAL MILEAGE WITHOUT GOING OVER , using the only true method for calculating , "THE CHEVROLET METHOD", is
AutoProf with a guess of 3959
I will be proud to buy his dinner at Maggie Valley if we don't see each other before.
Thanks to everyone for following our journey and playing along!!

Red is On the Road Again - Saturday Mar.30

Runnin Red is on the road for a short jaunt to Tennessee for a family brunch Sunday. Drove thru a lot of rain to get here today, the rivers are way up and bottom fields are flooded. Had a nice supper with MicDonna, Swt Ryd and their better halves. Will attach some pictures of the flooding when I get to the computer at home.
Possible snow tomorrow!!

Saturday May 4

Got RED ready for the trip to Ogden/Maggie---Bath, Roof seal work, and new aftermarket centers(don't want to loose the originals)---oil change and new rear shocks done the other day.
Met up with Swt Ryd and Micdonna for a quick tour of Quincy and late meal. Plans are to meet at 8am for breakfast and then we're off. It's time for bed now to get one last good night's sleep.

Sunday May 5th

Met everyone for breakfast at the Coach House after Swt Ryd "worked" on his truck cause it wouldn't start, he said something about "fixed it by using a crowbar on it"! Guess you had to be there, but it's working now.
Decided to take a sight seeing route for our first day, took everyone past the farm and Lois's childhood home then to Dyersville Iowa to see Ertl toy and the Field of Dreams. Surprised to find out that Ertl had closed years ago, but we did find the national Farm Toy Museum close by so Robert and I checked it out to find all the toys we had years ago. Left our trip down memory lane and all drove out for a quick look at the Real Field of Dreams--It is still there, just to early in the year to be surrounded by 6ft corn. Got a couple of nice pics and some expensive shirts(ask the wives about this) and headed west. Made it to Des Moines, now time for bed. all down the road!

Monday May 6

Hi to everyone on their way to Ogden and all those who wish they were!
Today was a major travel day, we did some math and decided we needed to rack up some miles to stay on schedule. We left Des Moines at 8 this morning and headed west. Iowa has a 70mph speed limit-ok, Nebraska is 75mph-good, but Wyoming is 80mph-great-80 and no ticket! We had a wide range of weather for our drive today, left in great sunshine for the first few hours then light rain then heavy rain then stopped raining then drizzle , all the while slowly getting colder. Thought we had seen the worst according to radar, but not long after I shifted to "light Speed" in Wyoming, it began to rain again. Most the rest of the way to Laramie it did a combination of weather I had not seen before--rain(light to heavy) fog(thick to thin)with a cloudy sky that allowed the sun to shine thru enough to make it even harder to see to drive. Needless to say I didn't get to enjoy much of that 80mph speed limit.
Great day of travel, about 670 miles, and some beautiful scenery along the way. Hope to spend tomorrow night in the same city as BigBoy! See ya all down the road!

Tuesday May 7

A Cold hello from Evanston Wyoming,
Left Laramie this morning about 9am in sunshine and cool temps. Forgot how beautiful the scenery along I-80 in Wyoming is, enjoyed every mile (running a legal 80 mph didn't hurt my attitude)! I will try to post some pics later ,but they are on the phone and it's dead. Watched some storms coming over the mountains and down the valleys - beautiful sight to see and we managed to skirt most of the really bad looking clouds but still had more than enough rain to wash the giant bugs off my windshield. Arrived bug free in Evanston about 4 PM.
On our way we got a text from RiverRat and after several close misses we finally met up at the U. P. roundhouse and while Mic was being interviewed by the Fox-Chicago reporters, the rest of us picked a restaurant for supper. Gary & Beth(RiverRat), Robert & Doris(SwtRyd), Mic & Donna(MicDonna) and Jim & Lois(SSReplay) Had a light meal (and drinks for some) at Legal Tender. We made plans for viewing the train tomorrow-fingers crossed for a small crowd at our spot- Gary may have an advantage with his rented 4 wheel drive. At least we all got to see both engines and the train as it was being serviced for tomorrows run, thanks to Gary for his directions to a back road by the train yard. It was raining but an umbrella kept the camera dry and we got "nice ride" comments from both couples that walked by Little Red! Should have kept count of the compliments we have gotten this trip, PERMAGRIN!
See ya all along the track.
