Left Evanston, Wyoming heading home to Tenn, by way of South Dakota. Stopped several place and someone always asked about the SSR. Here in Wyoming they don't call it a truck. " Nice lookin RIG". Devil's gap was first stop, Legend is a giant beast used his tusk to split mountain. Independence Rock was a landmark the settlers used, they wanted to be here by Independence Day. Drove up to Devil's Tower. Drove to Deadwood for the next couple of days.

How long you in the area? Tied up this morning but it would be great to get to see you before you head home. The weatherman said record highs of high 80's this week with lots of sun. Then big rain moves in Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

"She made it further than me" Could it be you married a younger woman ??? Could it be a "slight" difference in weight ??? Could it be a slight difference in attitude "Come on Robert you can do it" "I can't Doris, just go on without me"

Deadwood

Deadwood got it's name because of all the dead wood that lies around the gulch where gold was found. It became well know for it's mining, gambling, sports (another name for prostitution) and where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane died and were buried in Mt. Moriah cemetery. Deadwood has been destroyed by flood and fire. Found a place I fell in love with "Beer and Bling". (More pictures on SSR Fanatics Facebook page)

More pictures of Deadwood. Some people say I'm sick about chrome, I found a garage I will use. I like this kind of woman, she doesn't talk back to you. There is still some of the sport ladies peeking out of windows. Neat little town with population of only 1400, but look at the size of the post office. Our tour guide is really good friends with Kevin Costner, who lives near by.

Hey Robert, Sure looks like you are covering some ground also! Glad you two are getting the chance to see some beautiful country and old west sights. Take your time, enjoy yourselves and tell Auggie hello for me, better yet get him to come to Branson so we can all meet him! Be careful on the road and you can rest easy, I think we will keep Mic away from the cat - going a different route!

Just got home from a nice long visit and lunch with Miss Doris and Robert.(SWT RYD) Of course both of us were topless. We had put the tops up to go eat and when I came out mine would not go down. I got all flustered evidently and hit the cargo area button when I opened the doors so the lid was just cracked. Robert came to the rescue and saw it and slammed it shut, and Bam, top down. I went home and they were on there merry way to Mount Rushmore and crazy horse and hill city and all those other wonderful spots in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. The visit was short but sweet. Happy Trails.

Day 3 Heading home. Left Deadwood, headed towards Rapid City, via Sturgis down the Vanocker Canyon road to meet up with Auggie. Had a good lunch and talked about a hour. After 5 min seemed like we had known each other for a long time. Headed to Mt Rushmore but didn't make it today. The lovely wife couldn't take the height's. I will go alone tomorrow. After checking into motel went to Crazy Horse monument, from there we drove thru Custer state park to see wildlife. Plenty of Buffalo. On way back, in town of Custer we had some rain and this beautiful rainbow appeared. Almost a double.

Day 4 heading home. Boarded a steam engine train that went from Hill City to Keystone, South Dakota. Came back and drove to Mt Rushmore and the Needles Highway. These rock formations are awesome.

That is why I call this living in the beautiful Black Hills. Part of why I love this place. You folks motor safe on the way home. A killer rain and wind storm heading in Friday and extending into Nebraska.

Robert, riding that train is on my bucket list but I have only lived here 25 years so haven't gotten around to it yet. This might be the summer. You inspired me. Did you get the pictures of Zoey?

Well done, do you happen to know what the green ceiling in the steam train was made of? It's a long shot but I thought I'd ask just in case.

No picture of Zoey yet. Going to Badlands and Walls today. Going to try and get into Minuteman Missile silos first thing Friday morning. Than buggity, buggity on home.

Bob, riding that train is on my bucket list but I have only lived here 25 years so haven't gotten around to it yet. This might be the summer. You inspired me. Did you get the pictures of Zoey?
Auggie is right, the Black Hills are one beautiful area--as for the Badlands, they have the most accurately descriptive name of any place I've ever been ESPECIALLY in the 100 plus summer!!!

Robert, have a great time and a safe drive home, we miss you guys here in Maggie. Oh .... DON'T PUSH THE RED BUTTON IN THE SILO!

You are right on the heat in the bad lands. How about 120 degrees on our Harley's one summer. Thought we were going to die. Don't do that anymore.

It looks like a smooth upholstering material like a vinyl. Makes me wonder if it was originally fabric, wicker, leather, something pliable.

Just over 100 miles, timewise is a huge variable in York and Lancaster Counties during the tourist months.

Hey look kids a cow! I'll just stop in the middle of the road while you get out and take selfies with it.
Oh look kids a buggy! we'll just follow it for an hour to see if it can do over 15mph on the downhill. Of course we'll straddle the centerline in case the horse poops. Bet those 30 cars behind us are jealous we're so close to the buggy.

It'll never be the same...

Day 5 Headed to The Badlands thru the south end. Mostly gravel road.. Saw some bison. Finally got on paved road. Went to Walls Drug (tourist trap), found another floozy, grabbed a bite to eat than headed back to the Badlands. They were doing a controlled burn. Saw some sheep and plenty of beautiful rock formations. Went to Minuteman Missile Silos, found out you have to book about 90 days ahead to go down silos.
