Not sure how much you know about it. It is spring loaded so you actually push in on it gently and then let go quickly and it opens on its own. If that doesn't work it is stuck. I suggest you go to the do it yourself Library and look up how to open and or remove it. Good luck.

Have you tried with two credit cards one on top and one at the bottom and pushing it in and then pulling it? It worked for me

I know this sounds crazy but I do have a 'solution'
I was trying to open mine today, and it got stuck, as would be the case, and was a bit annoying.
So I opened the compartment next to/ below it, the one with the ashtray and lighter.
What I had was the wrong shape to fit down there, so in a flustered defeat, I popped the ashtray compartment closed.

Without skipping a beat, as soon as the lower compartment closed, my storage tray slid open.

In case anyone is wondering, I tried this again and it magically worked again, four out of five times.
Hope this helps, I guess...?

Behind the tray (both coin and cupholder) there are two slim metal "fingers" that hold the rear of the tray in alignment with the front of the tray. If those fingers are not aligned correctly, the rear of the tray can get out of alignment with the front of the tray and will "pinch" in position when the tray is closed. This is how both my trays were when I bought my SSR. To fix the coin tray, I removed the ashtray door in order to reach behind the tray mechanism and re-positioned the metal "fingers" so the tray can open/close without torquing, pinching, and getting stuck closed.
