Yes, I remember looking at that. Good looking site. Wonder what happened? I remembered he was selling all sorts of stuff some quite unusual lets say. Muslim sayings imprinted I think. Something about jihad and infidels??? Nah!
What was with the discrepancy back then on hp? Everyone today says 300 but a lot of Pace material indicates 290hp it seems. (Not that '05 was much more consistent).

I thought this was in "discussion". I've seen rats leave sinking ships slower than you!! (not that I would compare you to a rat, Rebel, just a visual aid). You discuss funny!!!

As at this date (amendment 1/6/2011) this one is still showing as "No Current Record" when Title Status inquiries are made, yet it has been parted out for some years. (as have any that have gone through Schram, CPAP & Spalding). Frustrating!

The first 2 in this list are interesting. Jeff said he thought he recalled them getting somethin from GM itself in the early days.

Yes it is. Funny, I was looking at a Classic & Antique (Bathroom Reader) Trader a week ago and when looking at an Allante for sale I noticed a Ricochet and this U.V. flamed one in the background so I looked them up on the net for interest. Seems the Ricochet was gone though.

Sorry Gina. I never really thought of that. I am sure we all wish there was no list at all but I do feel there is a need to track these trucks. I don't know if it is necessary to have the owner name there although it seems at the time everyone is very open about whatever occurred.

Washington State Salvaged SSR's

Awhile back I provided the VIN numbers of 5 or 6 that were in a salvage yard in Washington state. I tried to find the thread, but could not. I do remember someone on the site asking me for the info. I called the salvage yard and they provided the numbers to me. The salvage yard is the same guy that has all the new factory 05 GTO rear wings that he bought from GM and he sells them on eBay. Sorry I couldn't find the info for you..

Thanks Shadowman. I think I have covered the one's from your thread (might have one unconfirmed) but will dig back and maybe PM you if I think necessary. Thanks, Dale

Add:Oh yeah, that was Spalding, in Spokane I believe. Ijust noticed the "Washington" in your post. Great guy there, most cooperative and all accounted for!

Yep

Yep, that's it, Spaulding auto parts. He told me he bought several that were damaged in shipment from the factory directly from GM. Anyone who wants an 05 GTO spoiler he is also the man for that. He has lots of them, he also bought them from GM, new in the box, all different colors. He said they stopped production on the GTO sooner than expected and had a grunch of them to get rid of.

I've gotten rather derailed trying to restructure the VIN History. I really had no idea what I was getting into. I know I'm about crosseyed for this session!
Mike, is it reasonably simple to put colors to some of those VIN's in Post one that are missing? I thought it might be interesting to keep track of that also.
Not sure what to do with the one you just referred to. I'll think about that tomorrow.

I know it sounds bizarre but two nights ago I looked around my office and it seemed to be getting brighter. I looked at the clock and ,WTF, it's 5:30 AM!! I had started about 8 AM the day before so about a 17 hour marathon. If I can describe this process it is sort of like working on an assembly line and once it gets going it is difficult to stop as you develop a bit of a rhythm. The sad part is I'm not even sure if what I am doing is going to transfer back in properly. It is definitely going to take someone other than me to do that with my lack of computer smarts.

As I noted in this Thread

https://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/f6/c...1-alive-39513/

I came across a VIN in my searching about that I knew looked familiar and sure enough it turned out to be als-ssr's totalled Slingshot #23321 which is back on the road, the roads of Sweden that is!
Happy to be able to subtract one off the List.
I put it out there as a separate thread in an attempt to reach more Fanatics, to further draw everyone's attention to the concept that it is important we all keep our eyes open for VIN's from wrecked SSR's. If someone lists body parts for sale on SSRFanatics lets make sure we endeavor to get the VIN from the wrecked vehicle. If anyone sees one on ebay, or wants to bring to my (someone's) attention, however you wish. Let's make sure someone follows it up. Just to stress again that when anything is listed on ebay the information is lost shortly after the item is sold or listing runs out.

Found this one today. Aqua Blur #17703 owned by KOOOL in Boise.

https://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/28509-post1.html

Only a matter of days old it was later recovered, stripped and anything left beaten with a hammer.

Add: PaceGuy found it is in California with Salvage Title.

Looks like this one may still be with us Cash -- at least it was back in September 2006...Salvage title, Anaheim, California.

STOLEN SSR's - Chevy SSR Forum

Isn't that interesting. By the account of Post #30 from the attachment something isn't jiving, for by his description it would seem to have been far past salvage. Embellished somewhat I guess. I don't believe I got the numbers mixed up. He did replace the stolen Blur with another Blur, VIN-B116516. He stated #17703 stolen early April/05 and purchased #16516 July/05.
Thank you for checking this Paceguy. I guess thats another off the D.L.
Is this information you "had on file" or is there a "salvage" registry or something you have access to? It would be great if there was a registry of "unsalvageable" titles. If you have a means of helping out with this stuff I would be keen to hear about it.
I have been meaning to be in touch with you about Pace stuff also.

With PVPDriver and CANARY joining us for breakfast, both Dailygolfer & I were having our oil change at the dealer this AM. The service writer told us about an SSR on the back lot that had rolled over three times on a canyon road.
It my understanding the driver survived but was unconscious for two weeks. His name was Terry

Sort of a "bump" to remind everyone to keep their eyes open and to think back for others.
-Barakouda has been unable to come up with his VIN# to this point.

-scotto1467 of the Vegas Group. His UV was a write off about a year ago if anyone has a means of contacting Scott for his VIN. PM's to Scott and a couple Vegas folks have resulted in nothing. (added 6/16/2010)

-There was an '05 Indy Truck Slingshot I am surprised no one knows much about. I found pic's but that was it.
(Has been located - 1GCES14HX5B120101)

-I received communication last night from an "early" Fanatic that indicated he would be in touch next week. I am hopeful he will know more about the early crushed ones @ LCC.

I had seen these pictures before but only just located the information on Otter's #18842 6sp.

ADDED 6/16/2010:
Otter post from 11/22/2007 - Partial Quote:

I was heading into a RT hand sweeper near my mountain house and the rear end wanted to slide Lt, (I have been having trouble with the valve stems holding air) any way as the rear headed Lt, I countered with some Lt, then the rear went Rt, I countered with RT steer, by now I had slid to the edge of the road and as the tire caught the truck started to ROLL!!, needless to say I am not sure how many times, but I did end up on my wheels.

My SSR:
2004 Yellow
I think this list should make a lot of SSR owners think of how they are driving their SSR. Note that there is a lot more 05 and 06 models totaled than 03 and 04.

I bought my 04 SSR three months ago and have questions myself about not buying a 05 or 06 with the LS2 engine. My 04 SSR had only 1325 miles and was in mint condition. It came with a 12 month/ 12,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and I paid $26,000 for it (plus GA tax). Yesterday I drove a 2005 model and was really impressed with the different in the engine. However, it was not nearly as smooth a drive as my 04. Also the asking price was almost $29,000. This got me thinking of how I drive and what I really enjoy about my SSR. I could have bought a Corvette and it would have been a lot faster but I really loved the look on my Slingshot Yellow SSR. I'm a big guy and the SSR fits me a lot better. I also have a couple of really fast cars when I was a young man. My 66 GTO convertible I wreaked and was very lucky not to have been killed ($3,000 in repairs on a car that cost $3,500 new) I had only had it 6 months. My 68 Cougar with a 428 Cobra Jet engine was a very fast car (3100 lbs about real HP).

Yesterday I made one of my favorite drives up from Gainesville, GA to Helen, GA. As I came back I passed the old grist mill where 11 years ago I almost killed myself on my 1995 Harley (3 1/2 weeks in the hospital, 3 months out of work). I have to say that I drive way too fast in my SSR and I am going to try to slow down and really just enjoy my great ride.

Be careful out there.
