On the video. The R was in the first video where the Officials were walking down a row of car to be crushed. The R is pictured from the right rear. Still wondering if these were stolen cars brought to the Philippines.

No, I won't take the blame for some of those numbers! HaHa!
ACV - Actual Cash Value (pre-accident)

I'm not sure what the insurance companies use to establish values
Often they are way high IMO, and the owner should be delighted
I don't think they have a program that considers chrome wheels, boards, gauges, carpet, etc, or lack thereof

I bought back a totaled truck once for parts and my insurance company said they sell it to salvage yards for 10% of totaled value. So they gave me 7,500 for total and I bought it back for 750.00

Interesting
I am not sure how Copart & iaa figure into this.
It seems to me insurance companies use these companies as a bridge to the salvage companies like CPAP

Mostly, they are placed for auction by Copart/iaa - sold and other companies who part them or clean them up a bit - place them for sale $8-12k
If they originally sell for 10% ($2000 or so) the key is to buy them here, not at the $10000 at owner 3 (after the accident)
A good idea is for the owner to buy it back from the insurance company - #2 is for someone to buy from Copart or iaa for likely $4-6000 - #3 not such a good option

Sad. Cash does the estimated value of 20k mean that's what insurance values and paid to owner?

iaa uses:
- ACV - Actual Cash Value (pre-accident)
- ERC - Estimated Repair Cost

Copart uses
- Est. Retail Value
Whether that is "established" or "estimated" is uncertain

I spoke with Copart and the Est. Retail Value is established by the Consignor
This could be a dealership in rare cases, but in most instances involving the SSR the "consignor" is an insurance company.
I can't state how each insurance company establishes this number, but my best guess is this is the number paid to the insured

The previous example, at $20000 is one that IMO is quite high
I would expect an insurance payout for a 2003 w/64k to be about $15-16k

Having said this, it must be gut-wrenching to see your SSR get pummeled by hailstones
If you are caught in a hail storm, as rough as this might sound, it might be best to bite the bullet, drop the top, lift the hood and open the cargo
Sop up the water later but the deflection of the stones from 80% of the exposed surfaces would be the idea
Just a thought

In my travels I have found that if there is a threat of hail it is best to seek shelter (gas station, motel entry drive , parking structure, etc. and if you point out the vehicle if someone challenges your need they usually understand and help with suggestions, sometimes useful and sometimes not so..

Last year I was at a car show at Logan Lake, which is quite elevated on the Coquihalla Hwy - beautiful day, yet people attending the show were talking about the Coq being a skating rink, cars sliding all over from a hailstorm
I was basically petrified to drive home - I watched the cloud formations all the way, but with the Coq, you just can't pull off to the nearest rest stop - you are just "there"
Anyway, Kate got home safely, but it was scary.

I question the fire department move, to cut the V in the hood
I see it fairly often, but our hoods are a hugely expensive replacement part
In this event, flip the hood release in the cabin (not under fire issues) and with a really good heat resistant mitt, release the hood
I think that might be the difference between JUNK and SALVAGE
I also think it might be a quicker procedure - not that I question the FD guys that put their lives on the line daily
I just hate to see SSR's get unnecessarily carved up.
I also understand it is a standard FD procedure

Sorry, didn't notice this post - will check into it, but good observation.
The Salvage Company told me years ago they had parted #762 so that would make some sense.

Sorted it out and will make another post following this with the correct VIN.
I was getting the same as you, incomplete VIN's in the body of the Copart listing, but have been getting away with the door tags in the pictures, which backfired in this instance.

A couple weeks ago I tried to re-register with Copart (I get complete VIN's as a member) but I had to send a picture of my DL.
They looked at my picture and turned me down! HaHa!
Anyway, it seems they took pity on me, as when I logged in again I was accepted.

The correct VIN is #6625, so #762 goes back to the dungeon and #6625 added to the Salvage numbers

Again, thanks for the keen eye!

2004 in Black and now 2005 in Black, what a pair
In Missouri mileage is no longer required after the vehicle is 10 old or older so they will mark it exempt. Other states maybe different just passing along what I know from Missouri.

Regarding US Vehicle Title Status, it seems to me there are 50 Shades of Gray
(
That would be my parody on the 50 States - (48 States of Gray would not have struck much of a chord)

Oh crap - this is very embarrassing and it will take me more than a couple minutes to figure it out! HaHa!

I put the bandit in the wrong thread - how long is it going to take me to resurrect this mess? Who knows? HaHa!

I will work on it - part was to be in the ttarob - Burt Reynolds tribute thread - get it there eventually.
Frankly, I don't know how to move things quickly enough before you see them, and I embarrass myself

However, you get to see The Bandit I am not going to worry about cancelling this stuff - why should we - repetition of good stuff is okay!

Chalk it up to Oldtimers....

Preventive maintenance is a must, but if it's not broke, don't fix it !!! Unless it makes it Prettier or Faster !!!
