I appreciate that, but I disagree. The owner has a right to choose how and to whom to sell to. I just object to this particular type of bidding, with no control measures.....

I was contacted by several members asking if I was bidding, I told them I was not.

OK. So do I take the idea from this that "Blackie" is now the owner of # 430 ?
I DON'T want to put the wrong name down.

And why is it there always seems to be contriversy on my threads.(that is not of the whimsicle type , we all like to joke around
I just need to know who has this and any other display so I can post the name and number.

Blackie, I'm pleased and very proud for you that you were the successful bidder on #430!

It's a rare piece, and I'm sure it will provide you with years of pleasure.

By the way, you just graduated from an SSR owner to an SSR FANATIC!

Good Morning Marc.

I thought I had a list, but the list I have is for the concept posters.

We made this not for an award, but as recognition and to commemorate the launch of the SSR for those who worked on it. In the past, Saturn had done this for many of their milestones, and we had a few Saturn folks on our team. So we took the idea, and ran with the two (top up/top down) models and developed he set. I think they turned out pretty good.

In general, the 500 went to the SSR team, and LCC employees. The Signature series vehicles received their respective number, and each of the signatories also received one with the same last two digits (112, 212, etc..)

We also provided our National Dealer Council at the time with one as a gift in their rooms, during a meeting. (not sure how many that was now)

As you know, we also provided one as a thank you to the SSR fanatics that attended the homecoming event.

I sold several with the Signature Series at auction, in fact received $1,500 for one in Arizona.

The remainders were given here and there to customers, etc..

I can assure you that their were only 500 made.

If I come across my original file (P.O., etc.) I'll let you know. I think I already I ILMed it however.

I do recall talking to Jim (ssrtruck). If I recall, he manages an auto parts store of some sorts in New Jersey. I talked to him, as he called Ed Peper (then Chevy GM) and asked for a catalog, since he did not get one. He was responding to a letter I crafted for Ed's signature that went with the final SSR's produced. I believe Jim bought the last Black one, I think. Anyway, I included a catalog and some other stuff in the package, and he was looking for one for one of his many others. The VME was a hoot. He left a message indicating he owned 5 SSR's, and if I recall, Ed did not believe it.

Marc, I ran into Mike Knox last week here in Kalamazoo who was the Union Shop Chairman at the LCC! I knew him from the Kalamazoo GM plant. I asked him if he had any information about the SSR Pewter Plaque's. He stated that the 6 members of the shop committee were each given one, including himself, along with the plant manager. He said "they were the only hourly GM employee's at the LCC to receive a plaque as far as he knew".

Gotta love the new privacy thing on EBay - I miss the old days where you got to know who was a regular bidder from their EBay name.

Jim, what do you think if you also post the selling price if the bidder was unknown? So we know what our investment is worth

It would be neet to see how the prices fluctuate.

What are pewter displays worth???

I was previously registered as Realprowlerfan, then left group after selling my yellow 03 in less than a year. Just read thru this thread and saw some negative stuff about me.... All my posts were factual about the SSR's as we all awaited delivery. I lived an hour away and had an inside contact at LCC as I had sold a set of Hummer H2 wheels to a lady who worked there and she ended up driving a red Mule to Grand Rapids Mi. for me to test drive that she had for an "overnight", prior to trucks even being sold to public. She got me in the plant for a tour prior to regular production and that is when I had the test drive in #309. I remember taking photos with my cell phone. She told me that seats were slashed, tires had holes poked in them, etc. for all the trucks that were on the line as they learned how to build these trucks. Nothing was to be reused.

Anyway....are people paying $1000 for these pewter SSr displays? I saw in the list that looks like someone paid $928?

I have had 3 SSR's in the last year, and someone already offered me $700 to end the auction, so don't know how much a low number really means as far as value. I will admit, I love these trucks and the memorabilia, but this pewter display is valued higher to others than I, and sure it will find a new home.

Hi Chimpo....

It's a tuff one that you got yourself into here.... I've read all the posts that have been posted in the other thread "2003 SSR PEWTER" on E-Bay. I perfer to say you got yourself in a "PICKLE" instead

This is how I look at it.....

A) It's your item, and you can choose to sell it anyway you want.

B) You could have offered it on the "SSR FANATIC" forum FIRST just out of respect!

C) In putting it up HERE first, you would have given EVERY member that was interested in this display, a chance to submit their best offer for it right here, and for everyone to see and reply too. I.E. a posting of the best offers, not some auction that only you know the high bid (Via P.M.'s) and not the rest of the interested parties.

D) By listing it on E-Bay, you do not have to worry about hurting anyone feeling's here on the "SSR FANATIC" forum, or do you?

E) WHAT IS THE RESERVE PRICE ON YOUR AUCTION?

That's not a out of line question in my eyes. I've been selling on E-Bay for along time with a 100% feed back. When I set up a auction with a "RESERVE" I will get E-mails asking me the reserve and I tell them what the reserve is. It's just a good pratice in my eyes.

Like I said Chimpo.... It's your display and you have picked your basepath... I hope you can get out of the "PICKLE" that you put yourself into, and I wish you the best
