Dicktator--when you say "update or add to your files" and show a link, is the Library on the site been updated and or changed?? Thanks for all you work! (hope I'm not creating more for you)

Yes, I add to the "SSR How to Library" as I complete new P/P presentations.

The original Library had 23, there are now 44.

And I am working on more.

When attempting to access the How To Library it keeps asking me to log in with my Microsoft login. Is that right? I don't remember it requiring that before.

Added "BODY CONTROL MODULE CLEAN/REPLACE" to the SSR How To Library.

THIS is important "How To".

BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDS TO BE PROGRAMED TO ENGINE CONTROL MODULE BY DEALER!!!

I removed my OLD one, installed NEW one and LOCKED MY SSR!!

Radio screen said "LOCKED".

DIC said "UNKNOWN DRIVER".

Security system kicked in and locked most of my stuff.

Because I had right KEY, SSR Started but each time it erased/locked the computer chip in BCM until it was a "MESS"!!

DIMMITT CHEVROLET, CLEARWATER, FL saved my SSR. David Rutter, Service Director assigned a young GM/ASE Certified Technician, Shaun Plummer who found my BCM would not except normal program. Shaun said he had to call GM in Detroit to get "special" program to reload Program Chip in BCM.

IT WORKED! But it is NOT the way to do it!!

SO, you can buy NEW BCM and have DEALER install or you can just go to DEALER and have it done.

IF you remove waterfall, shift cover, console to expose BCM it will save a lot of time and money at a DEALER.

GOOD READ!!

shift stuck in drive, can't start engine

2006 yellow SSR
I pulled in to my driveway last night, could not shift to park, i shut off engine with key
i could not restart, shift level button stuck, I read in the yours post, found some infor
1. Disconnected battery and reconnected it, that got some things back working.
2. popped off ss counsel cover pushed solenoid button, lever now moves
lever moves, but will not move to neutral or park to allow it to start
Truck will roll back, used hand brake to stop rolling
is there a way to by pass neutral switch to allow me start, I'm in the middle of my driveway and i would like get it in the garage, so i maybe i do the fix:

Sounds like Shift Cable is, or has fallen off. Need Shift Kit. Can mail Shift Cable Repair Kit to you. Easy install and won't happen again.

IF you can get under your R, wire or tie the shift cable back on the transmission arm, you will be able to start and drive your R.

DO NOT PULL ON CABLE, MOVE TRANSMISSON ARM TO CABLE!!!!

Added two more to list:

Submitted by Ed Borland aka ED in Fl our Electric Guy.

1. ROOF SWITCH FAILURE- What to look for or why you have "time out" on display.

2. EMERGENCY FUSE BOX JUMPER - This is for 05-06 only. Explains what is happening to the OEM fuse box.

Thank you very much for providing this outstanding presentation on servicing my SSR.
I am a new member and for the past 4 years had no idea this info was available.
I can now repair my defective driver door lock and install the hood struts that are so badly needed on the SSR. THANK YOU and everyone else who contributes to this fantastic forum.

Could also be ignition switch or brake pedal switch. They ALL have to work for shifter to be moved out of PARK.

How to Library under Park Solenoid shows how to remove shifter.

https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=3ef39...5ADCE5E5%21853

Has a push/pin inside shifter that releases Solenoid, you will see when you remove shift lever.

Think you are beginning to have Solenoid problem.

What happens is "throw" arm on shifter Solenoid wears and does not go far enough to release Solenoid. You will see a "pin" on end of Solenoid that is "pushed" by Shift lever.

Change Solenoid should solve your problem.

Then it is not electrical, it is mechanical.

Take cover and shift arm off. Cable hooks to shifter, similar to the way cable hoods to transmission.

Have seen two cases where it falls off, or jams and wont let shift arm move out of park.

Can try disconnecting cable at transmission and see if you can manually shift transmission. If you can't you have transmission problem.

I figured out the problem. I spilled a container of ice tea on the counsel the day before. Some went down into shift selonoid and caused plunger to stick out & not let button push down. Used Ed-40 to free up sticky. Working for now . May have to take shift selonoid out & clean shift mechanism.

Just pull up on it easy and steadily. It's not attached with any clips.
