Traction Control Light

06 FPR Auto... Changed out the ABS Brake EBCM today.

Back together and the traction control off light is on. No control of it with console switch. Drove around for a little bit thinking that might reset everything. Pulling fuse #27 for 30 minutes didn't work.

Any ideas?

Larry

Did you change it because it was bad or to prevent it going bad? Was the replacement rebuilt or new?

ABS light kept coming on randomly... It was a rebuilt one that's a loaner from a local fanatic. Rebuilt 11/02/2018 is what's on the bag. It's just a floater from our local group, just replace and have it rebuilt and we have one in the area on hand.

I hope you get your original back repaired and this one can go back to the shop. A loaner can get abused. Just a hope.

You could be still seeing a code set by previous EBCM module. Suggest you go to Autozone or similar, have them read the code and then clear it. (You need a reader that will read code from ABS system) See if it stays off.

That is a communication error. Check G400.

Also make sure all the connectors are seated properly at the module.

I pulled that ground and checked the connector before I changed out the module per Dictator's instructions.

I haven't crawled back underneath to check those connectors. They all have clips so you would assume they're good but you know what happens when we assume.

Thanks Gary

Yes, but was loaner for an 05/06 SSR???

03/04 doesn't work on 05/06 and visa/versa!

I was just fixing to ask that question.

I'm pretty sure it came off a 03/04

Gary this is the one that James had that you replaced on Skip's truck. I assume Skip had it repaired and returned to James.

Thank You Sir.

I wouldn't worry about it. When you get yours rebuilt/fixed, whatever, put it on and all will be good.

Remember, we drove cars/trucks before ABS.

03/04 has PCM (Power Control Module) 05/06 has ECM (Engine Control Module) different software, in fact, 05/06 has 200 times more software than 03/04.

Sounds like you have the issue determined here. Jame's truck is an '04 as well as Skip's.

Dick, I know the GM p/n's are different, but is there any part number on the Kelsey sticker to distinguish between the 03/04 & 05/06 modules when they are off of the vehicle. Also, the 05/06 automatics are not compatible with the 05/06 six speeds as well.

Yes sir, got the original repaired and installed... No leftover parts and everything works like new. Good for another 13 years.

Marked the loaner as 03/04.

Only numbers I could find on the modules

Gary, Thanks for information on 05/06 and 6sp, I didn't know that.

I have never looked for a part# on EBCM, not sure there is one.

I know it is Kelsey Hayes 325 which was also used on Ford Pickup, Isuzu and SSR. I know the PC Board are different in software but case is the same.

I try to make sure I mark them 03/04 or 05/06.

I know they are different, how? Tried it? ABS Light comes on.
